My Dragon haiku by David G from Cape Girardeau, MO
On leathery wing
You swoop and breathe fire hotly
The villagers aflame
November 1st, 2007 at 11:32 am
The red dragon that flies the night,
Burning the land with its breath of blight,
No slayer can stand up to its fearsome might,
Legend says to avoid it’s deadly bite.
No princess is involved in this dragons tale,
A guardian of a sword of flames we hail,
Hidden deep within the cave of gales,
A cave ridden of rotten entrails.
Slaying the dragon is not the way,
trickery is the only light to another day,
Hiding in the shadows of gray,
Failure means your just a buffet.
If you somehow managed a success,
with your many skills and finesse,
Defeated the Dragon and obtain its cress,
Now is a sword of powers you possess,
However, this does not lead to rest,
onto the next devious test,
On forward to the trail to the west,
Into the belly of another nest.

Wow, Will, nice one.
I eat you and laugh, ha ha ha
I am the dragon, gnaw gnaw gnaw
I flame you and fry you
I smite you and kill you
I am the dragon, ha ha ha

Another Haiku:
With a smart wrist flick
The Dragon Blade cuts a swath
My Wii is burning

Not sure if these contests are open to people outside the US, but on the off chance they are…another Haiku.
With a mighty roar
It sets flame to the village
I soil my trousers

A haiku, just for you (oh, and a rhyme too :p) :
A dragon appears
true flames that of Merlin’s cast
Dragons turn to ash

Dusk to dawn he flies and hunts
Raging flames that consume all
Aflame are king, farmers and runts
Gold, gems and diamonds were our downfall
On wrath of fire he roars to the air
Never again enter this dragon’s lair

Unholy gout of flame
Unerring, deadly aim
A creature worthy of the most ill fame
Unlucky peasants maimed
Small cottage: naught but frame
Poor village, terrorized, ne’er the same
Sacrificial virgin dame
An offering of shame
It shall save you from his deadly game
Golden treasure became
Its horde of greatest acclaim
Far and wide, oppressed whisper its name:
Dragon.

Just to let you guys know, I rented this game awhile ago on the advice of that review that this article has a link to…Yeah, it was bad. I was both shocked and a little upset, especially since I had enjoyed Earth Defense Force 2017 so much (also from D3 publisher). The controls, the graphics, and the story were all god-awful…

Scales, shining cold and strong
claws like swords, and tail long
screaming it’s unearthly song
The Dragon, Large and feirce.
He sleeps by day, attacks by night
with wings of death, begins his flight
not concerned with wrong or right
through flesh his teeth will peirce.
Then when the beast has had his fill
and no longer yearns to maim or kill
he lets a roar out, long and shrill
and returns to his lair.
But one day Dragon will return
the men will die, the village burn
when Dragons wrath is hard and stern
for he life, he does not care.
some day maybe, one will cry,
” today that cursed Worm must Die”
and to the mountains he shall fly
seeking the dragons defeat
But when he comes, The beast shall laugh,
“You cannot win by spear or shaft,
I shall rip your flesh in half!
and then consume your meat!”
But by his heart, the warrior true
Peirced the dragon thru and thru
avoiding flames the dragon blew
to vainquish him to hell
The warrior was a hero then
for killing Dragon in his den
a legend he was among all men
or so as the legends tell.
The man prevailed through claw and flame
if you want to know more, just play the game.

I like yours, Eric!
Behind the smoke screen
Sun hits scale
Deadly flash of light
The broil of flesh
And scream of beast
Pierce the premature night
‘Twas days ago now
I begged this
I tested fate’s sharp claw
And now my greed and
Arrogance
Have doomed me to its maw
A woman holds her
Burning child
Her eyes burning on me
O mighty dragon
Take me up
For shame is worse than thee

Sit down me friends and drink a flagon
As I tell you the tale of the Blade of the Dragon.
With arms afir’ and head aflame
Yee find yeself in this budget game.
Call it not a Zelda clone
For ye fight this battle all alone
An action game, no excuse be made
Just run & slice & construct the Blade.
Though review scores be all o’r the place
Blake Snow says it’ll rock your face.
Is it worth the cost? I cannot say.
But if got for free, it’d make me day.
Look worth a rental, or maybe used.
But she’ll be mine if Infendo be amused.

Let me give it a shot:
Born of flame and spewing fire,
Their breed has drawn the warrior’s ire.
With wingspan wide the demon flies,
And dominates the crimson skies.
Knights and soldier shall know their wrath,
As they destroy all in their path.
So what more is left for man to do,
Than try to dodge the blaze they spew?
Humanity must unite to make them pay,
But alas, not now, not this day!
Until that time comes we do not anything,
And wherever the Dragon soars, he is King!

Totally not trying out my poetry skills in a public forum, no sir. I just thought I’d let you know that Dragon Blade has officially dropped in price (at least at GS) to $30.

With a fiery breath and a whip of its tail,
The dragon appears and strikes fear without fail.
It lets loose a roar so it’s universally known:
This dragon is pumped and primed to pwn.

::MY DRAGON BLADE CRUSADE::
A mighty creature wrapped in scale,
will cause this Wii owner to flail,
to wield the fire held in blade,
so that the “blue light” will not fade.

Fire blazing burning bright,
Sending into the sky such light.
Spreading fear and terror in the night.
The story is the hero’s plight.
Born and raised in a village near,
Never taught to have any fear.
The hero’s destiny oh so clear,
He prepares to leave those most dear.
Awful sounds from the beast,
He never feared anyone in the least,
The dragon prepares for his feast,
Eating the daughter of the priest.
Golden eyes burning so bright,
Crimson flames with so much might,
Ready to take on our knight,
He knows that he will win the fight.
He sees the knight and begins to sneer,
And holds the maiden oh so near.
Neither of them will leave here,
To the beast that is clear.
The knight attacks with all his might,
Horrible sounds fill the night,
As the beast’s horrible bite,
Has ended the fight.

After HOURS of thinking I have the ultimate artistic poem, one to go down in archives of poetry.
Roses are RED
Violets are BLUE
I want to play.
Me. Not you.

With D-pad under thumb we’ve fell’d
Many dragons in our time.
So gather ’round your screens, my friends.
Let’s commemorate with rhyme.
We thrilled as Link flick’d smack upon
Aquamentus’ wimpy fuss,
And didst face down Gleeok as he cried
“All your head are belong to us!”
We journeyed with Erdrick as suddenly
A Dragonlord approaches!
Our sword didst smite him to the ground
As a combat boot to roaches.
Bahamut, Tiamat, and your ilk
No longer burn the skies.
Our light sent thee where dragons go
To finally fantasize.
Singe of the Dragon’s Lair, tho kill’d
By Dirk, daring and plucky,
Did resurrect in our living rooms
With adaptations sucky.
Dragonite, I do choose you!
(At strategic intervals.)
Your genders make me stop and ask:
Do your males have Pokeballs?
O Ridley, Ridley, what art thou Ridley?
So vaguely dragonoid.
Thou delighted us as you made chase
With Mama Sam’s wee Metroid.
Vile Ridley, when you threaten us,
Jaws snap and wings unfurl.
Hurt deep it must to keep having your ass
Handed to you by a girl.
And finally Bowser, mighty King,
Your position high and lofty,
Who would have guess’d in eight-bit days
You’d turn in to such a softie?
Tho thwarted with ease at every turn,
Thou still give us quite a thrilla.
Thou art clearly the long-lost love child
Of Gamera and Godzilla.
And now, a Dragon Blade approaches!
We face the beast again.
If we wish to lay down forty bones
For four stars out of ten.
Can this dragon face critics’ fiery wrath,
Its weaknesses laid bare?
Perhaps not, dragon, but take heart!
At least thou art not Lair.

Tsk tsk. No limericks?
There once was a wyrm named Smaug.
In Lonely Mountain, he slept like a log.
Along came a hobbit,
the dragon, he robbed it.
Smoldering, the thief came out at a jog.

The dragon was coming this way
I knew this would end up being hell to pay
I readied myself for a fight to the death
I wondered to myself, which of us would draw the last breath
We started the fight, and fought hard we did
He breathed his fire, but away I had slid
I jumped in the air and readied my blade
I planted it into his throat, and the dragon had paid
The battle had ended, and as fierce as it was
I ended the battle as the victor with a pause
The dragon was dead, I was the champion alone
Another victory for this warrior, as I head my way home

dragons, oh dragons,
you are acarier than flagons,
of mead,
you fly high in the sky,
it makes me want to eat pie,
I knew this guy,
he liked to lie,
about dragons in his bedroom,
though the tought still looms,
my mind goes “BOOM!”
Dragons have tails,
which they certainly like to flail,
they breath fire out of their noses,
or at least Sigmond Freud supposes,
but before I leave you now,
you can watch cows and wait for Dragons,
oh, Dragons

A limerick:
There once was a man named Baggin
Who fell in love with a dragon
He tried to make a pass
But she scorched his–face!
As tried to escape in a wagon

Dragons, blades, wrath of fire,
Our adventurer must acquire.
As he scours both land and peaks,
The ultimate weapon is what he seeks.
Six dragons he must break,
And in turn their souls he’ll take.
Never mind this brutal quest.
For he travels with the best.
You, my friend are his companion.
Control him well through vale and canyon.
Be prepared for repetition.
Don’t forget you’re on a mission.
Once you’ve gathered all six pieces,
Then you’ll understand my thesis.
My thesis is that what you earn,
Cannot erase that ugly burn.
You are stuck with what you’ve done!
Where are all the dragons, son?
With that question my point is made.
Now choose honor, or dragon’s blade.

P.S. It helps to know the story of the game.

Fear has spread amongst the earth,
the dragon is the cause.
For he has crushed all signs of hope
with unforgiving claws.
He flies within the cloudy realm,
he spews a giant ember.
His eye peers down in dreadful greed
for someone to dismember.
His soul is black as starless night,
destruction his desire.
Towns will burn into the ground
by dragons mighty fire.
Against the beast a soul will rise
and meet in its domain.
An epic battle to the death,
only one will remain.
The final slash of heroes blade
severed the dragons head.
Forever sending the cursed beast
to be among the dead.
The hero emerged from the cave,
his quest is finally done.
But tell me now, who said that dragon
was the only one?
