ONM claims Elebits sequel coming to Wii

C3 News is reporting a snippet in this month’s issue of the UK’s Official Nintendo Magazine has confirmed Konami is working on a sequel to the Dec. 2006 Wii sleeper hit, Elebits.
Wii gamers with taste should recognize the pedigree; Elebits was one of the most innovative launch window games available on Wii, offering clever, intuitive motion controls, smooth IR integration and WiiConnect24 functionality.
Hot on the heels of Atlus’ announcement of another Trauma Center, it is great to see Elebits evolve into another Nintendo-exclusive third-party franchise. Maybe this time around, better sales can follow critical praise. Expect an official Konami announcement soon.

I rented the original Elebits, I wasn’t impressed… the concept is great, the idea of it all - wonderful. But the way it turned out just frustrated me. I will certainly be giving this a rent if it’s true though frankly, I’m more interested in Trauma Center 2 than Elebits 2.

I bought Elebits at launch, and I thought it was a fun game. My biggest problem was the frame rate slowdown when there was a lot of stuff moving around on the screen. Even more frustrating when the timer keeps normal time even though you’re moving slower. I hope that they iron out some of those frame rate bugs for the sequel. Oh and get new voice actors. My God they were bad in the original.

I rented it. It is a “meh” game to me. It was ok but it got pretty old pretty quickly to me. I certainly don’t consider it a must have game for the Wii.

I looooved Elebits, and I’m super excited that a new one might be coming for Wii. But I read a different rumor that said the sequel was for DS.

^^ I saw the same rumor, James. Perhaps the supposed Elebits 2 is coming to both Wii and DS? All speculation, but I’m very anxious to hear from Konami.
