Will PS4, Xbox 3 have motion/pointer controls?

I was torn between “not a chance” and “too early to tell” but I selected not a chance because I think it is pretty unlikely. It’s important to note that while Nintendo has had a runaway success with the Wii, it’s not like there’s not a market for a more traditional game system. The Xbox 360 is not a failure by any means.

If the PS4 and Xbox 3 ever had motion sensing controls, it will only be because they want to mimic Nintendo’s success.

I should clarify/correct my statement. I do think they’ll have motion sensing the same way that PS3 has it now. However, I seriously doubt they’ll have pointer functionality.

“The Xbox 360 is not a failure by any means.”
It is in that whole, y’know, “being profitable” department.

I’d prefer keyboard/mouse functionality which the PS3 already supports.

Yeah, it’s lost a lot of money, but it’s gained a ton of mind share. The kind of mindshare that made Sony TONS of money with PS2.
Do you really mean to argue that there’s not any place in the market for a traditional console in the vein of PS3/Xbox 360?

Agreed, exo. Perhaps another poll could read:
“Do you think Wii 2 will have downloadable demos or voice chat?”

I have a theory that the next xbox controller will have modifications that improve FPS control, but I don’t think it will be a pointer.
I remember MS mentioning that it was continuing to research improvements in controller design for first-person games. I’m sure they will look closely at the Wii’s success before they come to any final decisions.
I would love to see some innovation in incorporating a more mouse-like movement device to replace the right thumbstick. But I would like it to stick closely to the traditional controller design. Maybe some type of thumb-mouse, or trackball device.
MS will probably add motion sensing, but a pointer would require a radically different design (like the Wii), which I don’t think MS will do.

Nopel. But maybe PS6 and Xbox 1080 will…?

Are you kidding me??
I’m betting that the current Xbox 360 and PS3 will incorporate a pointer controlling device by the end of 2008!

Are you kidding me??
I’m betting that both the current Xbox 360 AND the PS3 will incorporate a pointer controlling device by the end of 2008!

That question doesn’t even make sense. The PS3 already has motion controls, so it’s logical that the PS4 will, too. And the Xbox is definitely not in the casual gamer market, so even if pointing controls make for better shooters, it’s survived against the also-preferred PC keyboard and mouse setup long enough to show that it’s consumers don’t care that much.
Motion control is Wii’s schtick, and besides, if Microsoft and Sony go all copycat, wouldn’t that be like admitting defeat for them? I just don’t think they would do that.

It’s really too early to tell. Microsoft is doing well providing for the niche “hardcore” market with a perfectly comfortable controller. I thinky they may incoporate something having to do with motion or maybe even pointers, but to what extent, I cannot imagine.
My answer (too early to tell) pertains to Sony as well, because at the rate things are going, there may not BE a PS4.

I thought Sony loves to admit defeat.

i wanted to vote, but no choice for, “What ps4?”
