Twilight Princess sells 1 million

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has SOLD 1 million copies to date. This is just the Wii version, and it’s units SOLD. I repeat, that’s units SOLD, not SHIPPED. Real game companies SELL product, while the rest SHIP them to store shelves to camp out. They then issue press releases telling us how great it is to ship products that never actually make it into the hands of customers.
Regardless, congrats to the Wii version of Twilight Princess, “the fastest-selling launch title for any new video game system since Super Mario 64 for Nintendo 64 some 10 years ago.” (says Nintendo)

Actually, halo is the fastest selling launch title.

Halo?
No its not, it took longer to reach 1 mil than TP.
Good for Zelda!

If I had to take a guess, I would say Zelda beat out Halo. But that’s a complete guess. I do remember an IGN article wondering why Halo, an unproven franchise, hit 1 million before Smash Bros. Melee did. Don’t recall when that article hit, however.

I think the fastest selling game launch was Grand Theft Auto Vice City or San Andreas… one or both of them had preorders in the Millions I thought… granted these are not system launch games, but still.

That’s pretty good considering how inferior the game design was compared to certain other Zelda experiences….

You know, I really enjoyed it. It may have been much easier than previous versions, but the ability to turn into a wolf at will was awesome. And the story was really cool as well. Much better than some of the other Zeldas I’ve played through. In the end, it was a fun game, and I can’t wait for the next one… (Really looking forward to Phantom Hourglass)

Oh, I’m enjoying the game too (to be honest I haven’t beat it yet), it’s just that I’ve found some places where Nintendo’s design was a bit sloppy compared to Majora’s Mask, or even older Zelda titles. An example? Agitha. She appears outside the southern gate everyday picking bugs. At the end of the day, you can see her walking back into town. But anytime you go visit her while she’s picking bugs, she’ll be right in her castle like she always was. A character in two places at once! This is kind of silly when you compare it to even Link’s Awakening, where at different stages of the game, characters wouldn’t be in their homes, they’d be in some other part of the world. A bug like this wouldn’t have been acceptable in Majora’s Mask, so I was shocked to see it here.

Too True… Too True…

So what if you need rupees for your bugs… you to wait until it turns dark so you can give her the things? is that what you want?
Please, you’d be complaining about that. It’s fine… Agitha just has a backdoor to the outside.

A point where Majora’s Mask was superior to Twilight Princess? How about SWIMMING.
Majora’s Mask’s Zora Mask rocked hardcore, and then we get the crappy, hard-to-use Zora Armor. WTF.

I agree that swimming in MM was much better than TP. I loved jumping out of the water the most.

This is just untis sold in North America.
impressive.
Oh and who gives a rats arse if Halo or Zelda sold fastest, they BOTH are kick ass games.

Wait wait wait, you’re telling me now that Nintendo counts games sold when they hit a shopper’s hands, not when they get to the stores and are no longer in Nintendo’s stock? That’s news to me… and every other person in the videogame biz, including them.
Why does anyone believe press releases again?

I found it kind of funny that this is a Wii specific article and you’re using a screen shot from the GCN game. At least use mspaint to flop the horizontal so he *looks* right handed :o)

Andrew, Pvt. Joker wore a peace button on his body armor in Full Metal Jacket. I’m trying to say something about the duality of man, man.

Halo rocks, yeah!!
And I’ve been enjoying Z:TP even though I haven’t got out of Ordon yet! But, I must say: I still feel Wind Waker had a better overall art style. That style will never get old, while Twilight Princess’ is going to look pretty ancient in about a year.
