More hardcore screens of Wario: Shake it from Nintendo

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 at 1:13pm by Jack

2D platformers excite me. Especially when they boast crisp, fresh graphics and an obnoxious main character like Wario. Why this didn’t make the presentation yesterday is anyone’s guess, so here’s mine: It’s first party IP, and Nintendo was giving the stage to new tech and third parties yesterday. This title will sell on its own. More screens in a new gallery at WiiFanboy.

But how can this game be hardcore?

It’s only a gorgeous 2D Platformer. It doesn’t fit in with the 3 Acceptable Genres! It’s not an FPS, It’s not a Shooter, and it’s not a Promissory RPG To Be Released in 2010.

How can this be acceptable in this day and age?

    I’ll be getting this one!!!

Shame it wasn’t showcased more on the stage.

    Looks really really good…..
The best game (for me) of this year if it delivers old school + something new gameplay.

If this wasn’t coming from Nintendo I’m sure it would have a hard time both getting on to shelves and leaving it. It doesn’t interest me much, but I wonder how the market will respond Wario in 2D on the Wii. How much is this selling for?

It isn’t 1st party. It is being developed by Good-Feel,Ltd.

I know this game has been pretty well dismissed graphics-wise… but the pic above would indicate to me that this game might be like playing a cartoon or anime. If the animation is smooth (and if the gameplay is good) this *might* not be all that bad.

I agree absolutely with Jonkind. When I saw clips of this at first, I was amazed at how sharp and crisp the graphics are. No artifacting or no pixelation like you usually get with animated game material.
