More details on Sonic Unleashed
Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 at 10:43am by JackCraving every little bit of info you can get about Sega’s upcoming Sony the Hedgehog 2.5D platformer? So am I, actually. The idea of a really robust platformer for the little blue one has me waxing all nostalgic like about the 90’s. As a Nintendo owner back then, I only go to experience Sonic at friends’ houses. Sonic on the DS was cool in all, but for some reason this title feels like the watershed moment for Team Sonic.
“In our minds, this game will have more in common with the older Sonic Adventure series. It has no relation to Sonic the Hedgehog [the 360/PS3 game] or Sonic And The Secret Rings… We wanted Sonic fans to love Sonic even more. Also, for people who are not familiar with Sonic, we think that this will be a great way to introduce them to Sonic The Hedgehog.” – lead designer Yoshihisa Hashimoto
Fair enough. The video feeds have been impressive so far. I’ll be sure set the bar nice and low regardless.

I was all excited, too, until I saw this:

Then I got a funny taste in my mouth. It seems they’re still unwilling to truly get Sonic back to his roots and abandon all the stupid gimmicks and bad ideas….

Sonic games, even the Genesis ones, have always sucked.
Of course, just my opinion. But I’ve never understood the hype for those games. Though I’ve always felt the character was cool, save for the lame music and “attitude” schtick, I have countless criticisms and complaints about his games.
This one COULD intrigue me. SEGA, you have my attention.

My son is a huge Sonic fan, so this will be a definite buy for us. Also, from watching the video on Youtube, it appears that Sonic is moving even faster than before.

Wow… looking good. Think I may just get this for wii. I skipped on the secret rings. This looks cool though

I’m a huge Sonic fan. When this was rumored I already knew I would get it if it was true. Not only is it true, but ti looks better than ever. I hope they can get some of the feel of the better parts of adventure in. this would be a good use of fusion.

Yeah, this looks pretty stunning except that apparently he turns into a werewolf at night.
No, I’m serious.
Werewolf.

That quote would be encouraging, if Sonic Adventure wasn’t where the series was well and truly derailed. Boring story scenes, a sluggish pace, and an inane cast of playable characters - other Sonic games had those elements, but Sonic Adventure was the first with the trifecta.

I’m a Sonic fan as well, and I’m hoping to get this game. I’m kinda new school, the oldest Sonic game I got is Sonic Adventure, though I’ve played the older ones and enjoyed them. This game is on my radar.

The Wii version is going to be a cheap PS2 port. I’m angry.
Oh well. The Sonic Rush games are stellar so I can always fall back on those. Sonic Chronicles is looking good, too.

I’ve never really been excited about a Sonic game until now. I am really glad that the Sonic Team is looking at its roots to give us something closer to the original series.
Plus, all of the video I’ve seen so far showcases the one and most important thing: speed.
Very excited indeed.

I’ve always loved Sonic games, and by Sonic games I mean all those things before Sonic Adventure, from there and after they’ve basically created an alternate universe where Sonic is some perversion of anime.
That is one thing that Nintendo always did right: they don’t do voice acting (much), and let the art express itself. Sonic should have been given the same treatment.
