Ike slashes his way into Smash Bros. Brawl
Wednesday, August 1st, 2007 at 8:20am by JackThere be dragons… in Super Smash Bros. Brawl! Well, there’s Ike anyway, the plucky two-handed sword wielding guy from Fire Emblem. That’s hot! And, hey Ike, are those Converse All-Stars you’re sporting?

Boo. I’d trade him for a Nintendo character I actually played as once.

Although not really familiar with the Fire Emblem series at all, I’m glad that Nintendo is representing a wide array of their franchises. I’d still like to see Captain Olimar from Pikmin pop up as a fighter, though.

“Ike, the plucky two-handed sword wielding guy from Fire Emblem.”
Why not “Lucas, that plucky litttle kid from Mother 3?”

My pants just got tighter.
Ike > Roy + Marth put together.

This is the first character to actually debut on the dojo. All the others are old characters or, in the case of the three new ones they’re profiled, already debuted in the trailers. As for Ike, I’d much rather have him than Roy or Marth. Those guys’ games never made it to America. So here’s to a Fire Emblem character I’ve actually played.

I really hope they add one more Fire Emblem Character and also Keep Marth + Roy. I think it’d be seriously awesome to have a 4 player FFA swordfight with all Fire Emblem Characters!

Does anyone else think that there’s going to be an Animal Crossing character? Just like there’s a stage and yeah.

But where’s Tina?
Seriously though, they should add a female FE character just to add to the female fighter roster.

Wow.
I guess, for a few, this is good news.
Where the hell is SONIC ?

Actually, Tyler, I’ve been having a sneaky suspicion that they might include an Animal Crossing character. If you look (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/list/index.html), all of the updates feature a logo or symbol. All of these symbols, aside from the Smash logo itself, belong to the characters (mushroom for Mario/Bowser/etc, Triforce for Link/Zelda, that sword Roy and Marth had for Ike, Samus’s S Symbol [and just the screw attack symbol. got it right. finally!], and so on). So aside from the Smash logo, all of these belong to a character. All, that is, except one: the Animal Crossing Leaf. It’s been used twice now. When they debuted the Smashville stage on the 13th, and the Pitfall item yesterday. This would imply that they’re going to have an AC fighter. The only question is: who? It would seem silly for them to use one the many many random regular animal neighbors or a random PC. So the most likely candidates would seem to be Tom Nook, K.K. Slider or, less likely, Mr. Resetti. But Tom and KK are both shown in the background of Smashville. In fact, in the screens of Smashville, they show most of the special NPCs from AC. Though, Mr. Resetti isn’t one of them. So if, in the million to one chance that they DO include Mr. Resetti, the entire world owes me five bucks.

Was I the only one to think of Ike from South Park?

Well, I think a lot of people figured he (or someone else like the Black Knight, who btw would be cool to have in there) would be in the game simply because in the first trailer they put out you saw the castle stage from the game. :\
