Activision has announced Guitar Hero: Aerosmith for Wii. The game will feature Aerosmith’s greatest hits, as well as songs from celebrated artists that the band has either performed with or has been inspired by in some way. The title will be made available this June. Gamers will experience Aerosmith’s career, from their first gig to becoming rock royalty.  No word yet on whether the game will be bundled with a guitar or will be sold as a standalone addition to the series.

Anyone feeling any sweet emotions about this announcement?

Areosmith is the poster child for drug legalization. The classic stuff rules. Everything they did once they got sober is crap.

  2. Jack says...

I’ll prolly pick it up. If it’s going to be full price, I better be getting 72 Aerosmith songs, however.

I knew there were some truth to the rumors last year. I was actually. listening to “Dream On” on the radio on my way home. I will definitely buy this. I liked the Aerosmith songs in the previous versions but I’m glad I’ll get to play more of their classics. Rock on! \m/

Lame. When they do Guitar Hero: Megadeth, I’ll be excited about a one-band-only Guitar Hero game.

Megadeth’s Rust In Peace > Aerosmith’s entire catalog.

I gotta say I am pretty pumped about the possibilities this opens. I didn’t really envision they would make Artist Centric GH games, but this had potential.

Also, I am big Aerosmith fan (hey some of there moden stuff was not horrible).

I wonder if this will be out before the actual guitar controller by itself is on sale. If so I may get the bundle as my girl and I will finally be able tp play co-op together.

Guitar Hero beginning to whore itself out.

I’m in. There are better bands than Aerosmith, but the idea of being one band and going from rags to riches is awesome. There are precious few other rock bands that would have as large a library of recognizable, popular songs.

    Run DMC cameo, anyone?

  8. Haciendo says...

Im definitely excited for this! Good idea this is a classic band. I hope the extra songs still have some variety though :-)

  9. Paul says...

Please. Kill me. A whole game about one band. Again, I repeat. Kill me.

  10. Krizen says...

@Derek: You clearly have no taste in music; ‘Dream On’, ‘Janie’s Got a Gun’, or even ‘Walk On Water’ is better than all of Megadeth’s crap put together. :P

(I’m just kidding around; sure, I think those songs ARE better than any of Megadeth’s stuff, but hey, I respect your opinion.)

Anyway, this game looks pretty awesome. I agree that the stuff they did while sober wasn’t as good as the drug-filled songs, but they still weren’t bad at all. And of course there has to be a Run DMC cameo! :D

the idea is pretty cool and it did state bands that played with or inspired by, so there should be some cool extra stuff. also everything after “Get a Grip” was pretty terrible.

@ derek b. - yes you are correct Megadeth is awesome, but i think they were aiming for a wider audience. What would be cool for people like us is if they did a GH where you are Dave Mustang and start in Metallica (but then Lars would probably sue everyone) and then form Megadeth after being kicked out and play along side with equally awesome acts from the metal days…so it’s the same rags to riches theme, but not so wussy.

  12. Dan says...

Single band expansions are all well and good but how about some downloadable content for GH3!

  13. Benthedorklord says...

I agree with Dan, I’d rather have downloadable content for the game I already payed $90 for then have to shell out $40 or $50 more for a new game. Although to be honest I’m a big Aerosmith fan so I support the idea.

  14. used cisco says...

I’m pretty “meh” on Aerosmith, but damn it if I can go without buying the next GH game, whatever it is. They pwn me.

  15. peshue says...

If it’s cheap I’d be interested. If it’s over $30 I sure won’t be buying it though.

  16. vakerorokero says...

I like the newer 90’s stuff better. And besides, this is guitar hero, you don’t play because the music you play because it’s fun. They could release a Muppets Guitar Hero and it would sell a ton still. actually that sounds like fun…

  17. DocOctorok says...

How about a Guitar Hero: Mario Mix (or Smash Bros Mix). Classic Nintendo tunes arranged for your rock band.

  18. Adam says...

Gee, I can’t wait to hear Dream On in mono! Maybe they’ll have their act together this time and not have to recall half a million disks. Yes, I’m still bitter about the mono thing….

  19. Quizzly says...

I really like the idea :)
Having a good collection of GH music will make sure the party playing stays on top :)

Bring on the “Guitar Hero Joe Satriani” and Ill die happy ;)

  20. tychek0695 says...

Hmm it seems like a decent idea. My wife will probobly enjoy it but there better be a huge list of songs.

  21. David says...

Yeah, Wii needs Guitar Hero: Minibosses
    Rock versions of Nintendo songs!

  22. daverage says...

There’s only one band that could pull this off, and that Lynard Skynard, end of story.

  23. Liraco says...

I liek Aerosmith but refuse to pay the GH cash-cow.

I’d rather wait and see if Rockband Wii is going to follow the mentality that this will be one game with an ever-expanding soundtrack as opposed to just yearly iterations of the same thing with miniscule improvements (or detractments as some have said about GH3 being worse than previous titles).

  24. Kingbad says...

I dont see why they dont just put out a crap load of AeroSmith DLC.
    That would make more sense

  25. Jeff S. says...

Bring on the Guitar Hero : Metallica …. ooooh or Iron Maiden \m/ …. then we could rock.,,, I like the Joe Satriani idea too but I think you would only be allowed to play that one on ‘expert’.

  26. neko to kuruma says...

Kingbad: It would have made more sense with Rock the 80’s too. I think Activision’s mentality is, “People are going to have to wait until Q4 for GHIV, let’s tide them over with a mid-year release.” That way consumers think they’re getting a full game expansion, and Activision makes more money in the long run by selling something that more people are going to buy. Not everyone takes advantage of DLC.

  27. RSGun says...

@KillerHeroes: MTV owns them. What do you think?

  28. Wii Repair says...

Should have just been downloadable content rather than shrink-wrap. Cannot wait for the entire songlist.

  29. HyperSonic says...

Hmm… Honestly, I’m not a HUGE fan of Aerosmith, and I probably won’t get this game. Like they said on the podcast, it’s just an expansion, like the 80s thing. I’m not saying this is a bad thing for Redoctane/Neversoft/Harmonix/whoever owns the friggin’ thing, but I dunno, it’s not the best move they’ve made.

I’m one of those who love hard rock foolishly. I love all hard rock bands but I have a special feeling for Aerosmith. This band is so special and has a different style. I do always try to see them on stage whenever they perform near to my town. But I find their tickets a little pricy and can’t afford sometimes. A friend has recommended me this site where to compare ticket prices for free before purchasing and look for the cheapest prices.

Unfortunately, I’ve never have chance to meet them in person. I do really love to.
