How do you get “2 cents short of a dollar” from gushing praise like “possibly the rebirth of the platformer” and “The only uncertainty is how much you let it take over your life?”
Regardless of all the talk about review systems these days, Game Trailers does themselves a mean review, IMO. In general, I mean.
This one, however was a great one. Bland story? Get it out of the way right off the bat, and then just let the game take over. I swear I heard the monotone voice pick up a bit towards the end. Even he couldn’t contain his excitement!
I never played Mario for the story anyway. Rescuing penguins in Mario 64? All a means to an end, my friends.
The perfect 10 on gameplay, ladies and gentlemen, is what it’s all about….The fact that it all comes in such a pretty package is just icing on the cake and nails in the coffin. I think I cried during that review…..
i was actually at the nintendo store yesterday and played for a good 25 minutes, i have to say i was very impressed. you just can’t slide tackle, thats my only complaint
“I never thought I would see specular lighting on Wii in my lifetime…”
I’ve always thought that the Wii and even the Gamecube had spectacular lighting effects, maybe better than the competition. Luigi’s Mansion is a key example. Or play Rebel Assault and fire your X-Wing blasters down the corridor of the Death Star trench. It’s amazing.

Umm… I think Blake was referring to the 9.8.
9.8/10 = .98/1.00.
It’s math. He was being clever. Give his the benefit of the doubt; you can be pretty sure he wasn’t bashing Galaxy.

him*
I’m better at math than at typing. Mario never taught me how to type.

I’ve got to hand it to Nintendo, this is the only game so far that’s made me interested in getting a hdtv, and it’s all because of the art style.

Where’s the complaining about the 9.0/10 review system?

This… looks… simply… AMAZING!!
I never thought I would see specular lighting on Wii in my lifetime…
I am one of the few who apparently enjoyed Super Mario Sunshine as much as Super Mario 64, but Galaxy looks light years ahead of either one!

That’s high praise. I cannot wait to buy my awesomeness in a box. Now if only every Wii game can play and look this great. I’d be a happy Wii owner.
