dragon_blade_-_wrath_of_fir.jpg(Press release) - D3Publisher of America, Inc. today announced that Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire has shipped to retail stores across North America.

Designed specifically for the Wii system, Dragon Blade is a 3rd person action-adventure game where players unleash the magical powers of a fierce dragon, creating a unique and visually stunning weapon through their sword and arms. Players will utilize an intuitively designed, two-handed Wii control scheme and use both arms simultaneously to emulate the dragon’s arms, wings, tail, fire-breathing head and more as they embark on an epic fantasy adventure in more than 20 unique environments in 5 visually stunning worlds. Dragon Blade is available for the suggested retail price of $39.95.

“Gamers have been asking for fun, original games on the Wii and D3PA has answered their call with Dragon Blade,” said Alison Quirion, vice president of marketing, D3PA. “Dragon Blade stays true to its game design roots by focusing on the pure beat-em-up, arcade style action that gamers love while taking full advantage of the Wii controls to achieve as close to one-to-one motion as possible so players will truly experience the action like never before.”

Featuring an original story by Richard A. Knaak, one of the best-selling authors behind the immensely popular Dragon Lance series as well as other popular series based on Warcraft, Diablo, and the Age of Conan, Dragon Blade immerses players in a compelling storyline and richly detailed fantasy worlds. Players will use their dragon powers and hundreds of combat options to battle colossal enemies and embark on quests to upgrade their weapons and make them even more powerful over time.

Both Joystiq and IGN have said the game has sleeper potential. I will post my impressions after some hands-on time tomorrow.

It sounds good, and I like the price… But I’ll wait for some reviews and impressions.

  3. Chooch says...

why are they releasing it for 39.95?

    Hey Hey !
    A good price point.

This game may turn out to be good.

I will have to look into it, once Metroid wares off.
And once Halo3 does not pwn my game time

When is this game coming out ? It looks like to be a ok game , but like Jake said, I’ll wait for some reviews and impressions also.

i like the game, its not an A title, but its easily B title and i am not above a good beat em up.

i will wait til its $30 though, because thats just my budget level for games that arent AAA.
still, i believe its $40 because nintendo years ago talked about how they thought game prices shouldnt drop so fast. how they should start out at the appropriate price for each game, not just a flat $50 price. so thats why alot of games on wii have come out for $40.

This is the first I had heard of this game but it sounds interesting. Besides who can resist that price? :D

I find it curiously appropriate that Blake posted a note about this game, since he owns a PS3…

Blake, have you played Lair on the PS3 yet, or a demo of it? How does it compare with Dragon Blade on the fun factor? (Obviously, it would be unfair to compare on the graphics power factor.)

I’m asking because the description reminded me of Lair so much…

  10. Blake says...

I’ve steered well clear of Lair; you can’t play (or even demo a game) without workable controls.

But yeah, I’m enamored with dragons as much as I am with vampires. Dragon Blade (hopefully) for the win!

Oh, great, yet another game to compete for my time and money. I can’t resist a good dragon. :-)

Holy crap, I guess the entire gaming press is busy playing Halo. There is not a single review cited on gamerankings.com yet.

This game looks really great compared to the avarage wii looking game so far! IGN called it GoW-ii and i’ve been following, and let me tell you, this game has that little something that can make it be a great game.

I really hope this game hits the point, and gets good reviews, because after following it for so many weeks, i’ve became closer to it and i really hope it sells well!

  14. DrewMG says...

I’ve never heard of this game. Can someone give some gameplay details?

Not a fan of the name. Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire? Seriously, that is very very generic sounding.

But, that won’t really matter if the game is good.

  15. AC says...

hmmm i’ll wait for reviews. this doesn’t look like a AAA title. but i could be wrong. i’ll wait on this one. i wonder which one will be better, dragon blade or soul caliber legends. i think i’ll only pick up one or the other depending on reviews.
