Developer: Third-party Wii efforts are lazy; Gamers: We know

Video Gamer has posted an interview with Battalion Wars 2 lead developer, Tancred Dyke-Wells (that’s a mouthful!), in which he says other third-party developers are “under-exploiting” the Wii, and that there’s “room to do more” on “GameCube x2.”
While calling other developer efforts “lazy,” Wells says his team is working on a number of projects that are “continuing to advance the graphical standards” of Wii despite its being only two times as powerful as the six year-old GameCube.
This is yet another case of stating the obvious. But the more developers that publicly criticize sloppy work, the better.

AMEN!!!! Now if we can only find out who the developer is that been said to be using the Unreal Engine 3 for a future secret project for the Wii. The word on the street is that the developer is Ubisoft and the game is Red Steel 2.
So finally someone is starting to focus on making the games play well and LOOK AT LEAST AS GREAT AS THE BEST XBOX 1 GAMES.

@ Jadnice: Actually, the Gamecube was capable of Xbox-level graphics; it’s just that nobody ever pushed it to its fullest (save perhaps when Resident Evil 4 came out; that’s a good example of what it’s capable of).
So, if you duct tape 2 almost-xboxes together, you get an almost-360; just look at what was posted a few days ago about Super Mario Galaxy looking like an early 360 game. If Wii had HD, it would nearly rival the 360. (Not that I’d notice, I’m still using a TV that’s nearly 10 years old, but…)

Anyways, we seriously need some great 3rd party stuff on the Wii. The Wii is the new PS2, after all; cheap development costs. We’re supposed to get tons of weird 3rd party stuff, but all I see right now is Mercury Meltdown Revolution (which, by the way, was wonderful).
Anyone have a list of good 3rd party games on Wii so far? Does Trauma Center count? (I’m not sure who made it and thus whether or not they are employed by Nintendo)

Yes, the fact, IMHO, every Wii game should look better than any last gen game at the least. We know it’s capable of doing better than GC and Xbox games, so yes, every game should have better visuals than last gen and the best Wii games should look like early 360 games. That’s why I continue to complain about the graphics. Not because I want 360/PS3 graphics, or that I’m a graphics whore, it’s because we KNOW the Wii is capable of much better than most of what we’ve gotten. We even have Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy to prove it now, so me seeing games that have PS2 graphics is lazy and at this point pretty insulting, especially when they want $50 for it. I’m not giving you $50 for a PS2 port, I don’t care what game it is.
Stop being lazy and put some effort into it, and while we’re at it, how about trying to make some games without the cartoony, kiddy visuals too. That’s the other lazy trend the 3rd parties are doing. Either it’s a PS2 port or they go the cutesey, kiddy look route. It’s starting to make me throw up.

while the guy is stating the obvious, kuju is not the right company to state it. battalion ars 1 and 2 do look great, but thats because its all a plastic look.
i love the games, but kuju feels just as lazy in other areas by not having enough features in there games. they are way behind the times with many features that other games of similar genres have, and too few multiplayer maps/features.
single player still has alot of room for beefing up, and i await their BW3 where they show their talent by giving a much fuller game.
basically, for me, the game is great the first time through, but how about offline skirmish mode maps against the computer. i would like the ability to use some of the bigger badder vehicles in the game in more then just the one or 2 campaign missions they appear in.
so maybe even have a level editor.
basically, mimic advance wars features, and maybe include a + game, so when you beat it, if you can get at last all As, you get a feature besides just art, something gameplay related. and you get something major gameplay related for S also.
personally a new gameplay for getting all As that would help you get all S’s. whatever they can think of, but just more options

oh, and i want to add. i personally dont care if they keep the same graphics for the sequel, i like plastic just fine, but they still need to refine voices. betty(first girl to show) looks fine but the voice doesnt fit the look) and voiceover in that game isnt worth keeping anyway. change most of them out, or allow us to turn it off
