Activision “working to offer possible solution” to mono-only Guitar Hero 3 on Wii

Said an Activision representative on the issue of inexcusable mono-only sound (via 1UP):
“We are already looking into the issue, and rest assured, are working to offer a possible solution to our fans.”
Let’s hope so, if only for the sake of my delicate ears.

While you’re at it, can you tell them to solve the whole DLC issue?
I suggest a GH I and II plus for the wii.

Yah, for my $90 that I dropped on release day for essentially a game and a guitar shaped Wii Zapper, I expect a recall. Funny, the PS3 and XBox 360 versions have their own wireless transmitters and accelerometers built into the guitar, yet are only $10 more expensive for their version… All that fancy technology amounts to $10? Nice! I’m sure the plastic shell that uses all the Wii Remote’s built in potential is really worth $40 more than a regular Wii game and only $10 less than the XBox and PS3 (which feature stereo sound) versions. I wonder which version is the most profitable and clearly got the least amount of testing. By the way, how come everybody complains about the Wii Zapper being a useless shell when the Guitar Hero controller isn’t really much fancier?

I’m kind of frustrated that there’s no offline or non-career mode cooperative play. That’s a pretty dumb move if you ask me.

Finally we have official acknowledgement from Activision that the problem even exists. That’s a start. The Wii version was the second-most purchased version. If the Mono issue gets fixed, I will buy it:

GOOD! Cuz I am not buying one for Wii until I can get my surround! I know many other people who are holding out as well. Work on it fast!

They aen’t serious about this issue. If they were there would have been a recall, a disc swap program or a downloadable patch that could be used in that “backdoor” they supposedly left in the code for Wii downloads (I may be thinking of another company about the last one). The only thing I see them doing is removing the dolby pro logic II logo from future shipments of Guitar Hero III.
The problem is a sond relatd problem only. The game is essentially a near complete ps2 port with the necessary changes. What went wrong with the sound between those? I’m sure there code is marked so that they could look at everything sound related, they should already have a fix, the only reason one hasn’t been released is because of seemingly bad press and the probable slowing down of sales. If they recalled later next year after the holiday rush, there may or may not be more people willing to go a week or weeks without their game disc. I think they’re banking on it so that they’ll cut their losses. Shame on you Activision.
