Activision issues final update to Guitar Hero 3 mono issue

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008 at 8:26am by Jack

I just wanted to let everyone know that Activision issued another update to the Guitar Hero 3 mono problem today.

Remember, if you want a new disc, you’re going to be without GH3 for a week or two.

The full email after the jump.

Question
I have questions about the missing surround sound.

Answer
We wanted to provide you with an update regarding the status of the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Wii replacement discs. Interestingly, you can also return your GHIII for $132 using that site.

It doesn’t say when new discs will be showing up in retail. I’ve been holding out on getting GHIII until I was sure I could buy the game with the problem already corrected. Not that I’m missing out on anything. Zack and Wiki, Ouendan 2, and No More Heroes have been keeping me busy since Christmas, and there’s a lot of other stuff on the shelves now to keep me happy until Activision gets their act together.

Anyone know if Rock Band for Wii will be in surround sound? Just kidding .. but I do want to play me some drums!

Ok, since I’m at work and can’t view that Exchange site….do we only have to send the discs in? Or the whole package (ie Guitar too)? I would assume it’s just the disc, but they did forgot to include the correct audio output to begin with so I’m giving them very little slack.

Maybe I’m being unreasonable in my expectations for a company that totally screwed the pooch and sent out a game apparently without sending it through quality control. But does anyone else think they’ve done a terrible job of handling this. From the beginning they’ve been acting like it’s a secret and making you jump through hoops just to get you’re game as it was advertised.

If we buy it in the store, how do we know what we’re getting?

I could have sworn I registered when this was first announced months ago. I searched for my status, but nothing was found. I hadn’t received an envelope in the mail, so I figured I didn’t remember or something, and registered again. This was last night. I just searched again, and nothing’s showing. I’m going to fill out the “contact us” form, but I doubt it will get me anywhere. Yay customer service.

Are we allowed to send in the disks to get a game that doesn’t suck balls compared to the other two guitar heros?

  9. MacUser says...

Where can I exchange it for $132?

  10. DocOctorok says...

Check the site. They have you mail the guitar, strap, and game to them, and they send you 132$ to cover it and shipping.

I got my envelope yesterday and sent in my bad disc to be replaced. They said it would take 3 to 6 weeks to get new disc. I always hate when companys say stuff like that when we know it doesn’t take that long.
