$79 Wii at Amazon

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007 at 8:06am by David

wii1stplace.jpgDid anyone here get a chance to vote on the $79 Wii at Amazon? It beat out PS3 and Xbox 360 during the online retailer’s annual Customers Vote event. Only 1,000 units will be made available through this contest promotion to a randomly selected group of winners consumers who voted for Wii. It’s hard to imagine they’re going to sell Wiis for almost 70% off the usual price, but there’s the image to prove it.

So, did you vote? Let us know if you were selected to buy a dirt cheap Wii!

    Voted.

Also aware that I don’t have a ice skating shy guy’s chance in hell at “winning”.

Voted too… but for the PS3!!

    :D

Sorry, but since I already have a Wii, I thought this would be my only chance to get a PS3 this side of 2009!

I almost voted for the 360, but guessed the Wii would win and therefore if I wanted any chance at all to order one, it’d have to be the Wii. (Having a second one would be nice for visiting my parents, but I’m resigned to waiting until you can buy Wiis used in 2 or 3 years.)

I voted for the 360! Wii is junk!

Voted for the Wii. Although, I already own a Wii, but who can pass up a second for $79?

Honestly though, I’m more excited about the chance of getting that HP Pavilion laptop for $299. :/

I voted for the Wii (it’ll be a gift if I get it), but I’m REALLY crossing my fingers for the 46″ Samsung 1080p HDTV.

    Was there ever any doubt?

I voted for an XBOX360, I already have a Wii and have never owned any non-nintendo console, so I figured this would be a good chance to try it out. Problem is, bastard Microsoft artificially jacks the prices of their games sky high, so if I want to buy a game that was good from 3 years ago, it’ll still cost me $69.99, plus tax, shipping, excise tax, document fees, and the extended warranty, since after all, it is an MS product and we all know it will break of spontaneous combust in your living room in a matter of minutes of using it. Speaking of broken products, I’m on my 2nd Wii under warranty and I need to send it in for the same overheating GPU problem as the 1st…maybe that 360 will come in handy when I’m waiting another 4 weeks for my Wii to return from Nintendo’s repair facility in NY.

Nope…didn’t win. This is what I get for voting against Nintendo.

The Wii obviously won, but I wasn’t one of the lucky 1,000. Wonder how many millions of entries they got.

Incidentally, just to stand up for Nintendo’s repair service…. on Friday the 9th, my Wii stopped reading discs and I filed a warranty claim on Nintendo’s web site. On Tuesday the 13th, I got a prepaid UPS label to send the Wii back to Nintendo. I didn’t get it out in time for UPS to take it till Wednesday night. On Monday the 19th, I had a box waiting for me containing my fixed Wii. Maybe it’s because it was still under warranty, but then, all Wiis should have been under warranty till Monday the 19th.

    I entered for the Wii

    I did not win.
I know of no one who won.

So sad. My husband was there with his credit card to make that my early Christmas Present.

    Oh Well.
