Wii version of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 inbound

Arguably the most anticipated title to be released this year is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The predecessors to Modern Warfare 3 have done rather well on the Wii, but until today it was unconfirmed whether the newest  entry in the franchise would find its way onto a Nintendo platform. Worry no more, Modern Warfare 3 is Wii-bound.

In an investor’s conference call, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg confirmed, “We will release a Modern Warfare 3 Wii SKU this year.” Seeing as how Call of Duty: Black Ops has sold a copy or two, it’s no wonder that Hirshberg says the decision to make a Wii version was, “so as to not leave any of the community out of the excitement.”

While I am not a huge fan of the Call of Duty franchise, I certainly welcome the effort put forth by publishers to bring triple A titles to Wii. Even if it is a dumbed down port.

If you plan on picking up Modern Warfare 3, will Wii be the platform you purchase it for?

It’s nice to know the game’s Wii bound, especially considering how the Wii will get the game at the same time as the other consoles for once. Probably still not buying it though.

i’m sorry to those that like CoD, but i couldn’t care less

  3. deepthought says:

mw2 was good, black ops was pretty mediocre. mw3 without infinity ward isn’t going to get my money.

i’m holding out for battlefield 3 on pc!

  4. Mohan says:

Good too see 3rd parties not giving up on the Wii, unlike Nintendo.

    Meh.

  6. Eyes says:

I don’t like it, but many others do.
Sadly, the Wii version won’t be the best, it’ll just be used to milk money out of the wii owners who actally want a ps3/xbox360.

  7. Cory says:

I generally agree with Eyes, but I for one love shooters on the Wii, the controls feel so great, but I’m still not buying this period (I’m sorry but screw Activision). Some people might feel the way I do but I still figure very, VERY few people would choose the Wii version over the HD versions. (I wouldn’t simply because all of my friends have a 360).

  8. deepthought says:

i hear treyarch is making the wii version. (RUN!)

  9. electricfuture says:

is the fake logo you headed this post with, a prediction of the game’s quality? or just stupidity?

this game will be garbage. why would you settle for less than the real game? “Its pretty good for a wii game!” that is just people being dumb. play wii exclusive games on the wii, and play everything else on the other platforms. simple as that

  10. Nfanboy says:

    Great news.

But I will probably won’t play that game. I’m on the Battlefield train this time.
