Wii Bringing Back Some Classics

Nintendo of America has shared some great news for fans of Pikmin and Mario Tennis!  On June 10th, 2012 NoA will release Pikmin 2 and Mario Power tennis for the Wii as part of their “Nintendo Selects” line of games.  Both of the classic games will be available for the low price of $19.99.

Nintendo also announced that Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Donkey Kong Country will now sell for the low price of only $29.99.  For fans that do not already own the titles, or have played the disk to it’s grave, the lower pricing is sure to attract an audience.  I can almost see Reggie swimming with Scrooge McDuck in the Vault of gold coins in celebration of the increased profits.

Could it be that the re-release of these games, as well as the lower pricing, are meant to draw fans back into the series in preparation for Wii U sequels?  Probably not, but I can’t help but hope!

I JUST bought Pikmin 2 a week ago for the Gamecube for $30 because I’ve been craving to play it (and figured it wasn’t coming out in the US). Oh well, not complaining.

Not impressed. Get your sh- together, Nintendo!!
We want current generation select titles, dammit.
Do I really have to wait another generation before putting down money to buy your 1st party games??

I already own Pikmin 2 on GC, but I’ll definitely be buying the Selects release since it’s only $19.99 and I liked the controls on NPC Pikmin.

Agreed. Feels clunkier. Not the place to voice our opinions on this, I know, but I’m not sure where is.

I’ve been waiting for a Pikmin 2 Wii re-release since the Wii launch of ’06! I still have the GC version, though, and the only thing that will make me buy the Wii version now would be: 1) Widescreen, and 2) Wii controls… is that Nintendo’s plan? Anybody?

  7. Cory says:

Pikmin 1 had Wii controls and I must say it was awesome. The original felt good to control but is so much better with the Wiimote. As for widescreen, the original had it plus progressive scan so I can’t imagine this one being different.
