Protöthea - WiiWare - 1,000 Wii Points
Protöthea is a top-down scrolling shooter game with free movement that puts players in complete control of a last-generation spaceship. The mission is to destroy the asteroid called Maqno 01 and finish with the plans of The Core. [Published by UbiSoft]
Toki Tori - WiiWare - 1,000 Wii Points
In this puzzle/platform game, players use a variety of items such as the Telewarp, InstantRock and Slug Sucker. Clever use and combination of these items are needed to solve all the game’s levels, of which there are more than 70. The game even uses the Wii Message Board in a unique way. [Published by Two Tribes]
Ninja Combat - NEOGEO - 1990 - 900 Wii Points
Take control of the ninjas Joe (one player) and Hayabusa (two players), and enter into battle against a group of evil ninjas called the Kage Ichizoku. Ninja Combat also supports simultaneous play with two players, so you can grab a friend and defeat the Kage Ichizoku together. [Published by D4 Enterprise]

I heartily recommend Toki Tori. It’s a great pick-up-and-play puzzler. It’s kind of a cross between Lemmings and Lode Runner. You can play for an hour or five minutes at a time, whatever you have available. Very cool.

Toki Tori looks like the only game worth owning this week. Am I the only one sick of space ship shooting games? Same garbage over and over.

Protothea looks like a sting ray trapped inside an early 90’s PC shooter.

Real nice entry to this Monday for both Wiiware and VC. I wonder whats the hold up for “The Revenge of Shinobi” for the VC. I am so wanting that classic to showup for download.
Toki Tori I know my girl will love and I will check out the Protothea shooter.

Sick of space shooting games? Shame on you! Sick of Ubisoft not putting more effort into the Wii? That one gets a yes.

Protöthea and Toki both seems pretty interesting.
You can try out a demo for Protöthea here:

Does Ninja Combat have anything to do with Ninja Gaiden since they’ve used the name Hayabusa here too.

Thx for the link Myst!
I tried the demo and I can now confirm this game is a TURD. Shooter fans beware! My advice, wait a few more weeks for Gyrostar:

D_average: I thought it was pretty fun but Gyrostar looks good and I have fait in the game since it’s being created by High Voltage.

I won’t be buying Protothea.

nah, I’m actually thinking of ‘trying’ protothea, can’t be that bad. I’d rather play Gate of Thunder for turbographix than any other shooter….we’ll see.

Oh, there’s a mistake in your title. Being a piece of crap from Ubisoft, Protöthea should actually be titled Protötheaz.
June 2nd, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Considering there’s 100 Wiiware titles in the works, I only have so many 10 dollar bills to spare. That said, Protothea will not receive one of them.

UbiSofzzzz used an off the the shelf indy-engine to make their rush job. It’s kind of a shame, considering their size and past titles. Companies like Frontier — new to the Wii, built their own Wii engine.

Take control of the ninjas Joe (one player) and Hayabusa (two players)
Ninja Gaiden prequel?
