With its October 6 release creeping up fast, Nintendo of America is beginning to roll out the U.S. advertisements for Pokemon Black & White 2 for the Nintendo DS. As a special bonus, consumers who purchase the game early will be eligible to receive Genesect, a newly discovered mythical Pokemon, which I or may not be familiar with.
Being one of the final Nintendo-published DS games to possibly be released, Pokemon Black & White 2 has created a stir with critics who find the sequel better suited for Nintendo’s current 3DS handheld. The idea of a sequel to a Nintendo DS game continuing on said handheld, with the 3DS having been on store shelves for 18 months, is highly questionable. But, other factors such as developing a new gameplay or graphical structure for Pokemon Black & White may have pushed the decision for the sequel not to have a huge jump. That said though, the Pokemon name is a sales juggernaut, so we’ll have to continue to wonder what the next iteration of the series juggernaut will be in the future. A series revamp would be ideal, but don’t hold your breath.
