After finishing up Xenoblade Chronicles last month, my body just wasn’t ready for another huge RPG. I had put in The Last Story for a bit, but only enough to know that the game would be another 50+ hour adventure that I just couldn’t pass up. Now that finals are over and I have had an entire weekend to devote myself to the game, I think it’s appropriate to give my initial impression on the game, and let me tell you, this is a game you aren’t going to want to miss. Hit the jump for a preview on what could possibly be the last hurrah for Wii.

Wii Bringing Back Some Classics

Wii Bringing Back Some Classics

Nintendo of America has shared some great news for fans of Pikmin and Mario Tennis!  On June 10th, 2012 NoA will release Pikmin 2 and Mario Power tennis for the Wii as part of their “Nintendo Selects” line of games.  Both of the classic games will be available for the low price of $19.99.

Nintendo also announced that Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Donkey Kong Country will now sell for the low price of only $29.99.  For fans that do not already own the titles, or have played the disk to it’s grave, the lower pricing is sure to attract an audience.  I can almost see Reggie swimming with Scrooge McDuck in the Vault of gold coins in celebration of the increased profits.

Could it be that the re-release of these games, as well as the lower pricing, are meant to draw fans back into the series in preparation for Wii U sequels?  Probably not, but I can’t help but hope!

A Review: Simplicity + charm + rhythm = Rhythm Heaven Fever for Wii

A Review: Simplicity + charm + rhythm = Rhythm Heaven Fever for Wii

At first I was surprised that Rhythm Heaven Fever didn’t include motion in its control scheme. The controls, in fact, are infinitely simple: the “A” and “B” buttons are essentially the summary of control for the entire game. Upon thinking about this, I decided it was for the game’s benefit. Rhythm is a precise art (trust me, I know). Motion control is not a precise art. Conclusion? The simplicity of this control scheme is nothing short of brilliant! While other rhythm games rely on bulky peripherals or imprecise motion control, Rhythm Heaven Fever nails the idea of actual rhythm with its blessed simplicity!
