Virtua Tennis 2009 is a lot like Zelda: The Twilight Princess—it starts slow, but once you get the hang of things, it absorbs you. It’s not the Roger Federer of tennis games (I’m looking at you, nagging callibration between every point), but it trumps the excellent Wii Sports Tennis in almost every way imaginable.

After reading the Nintendo Power JPG teaser today, I’m excited for this Wii timed exclusive. It sounds like there’s a variety of controller setups (wii mote alone, with nunchuck, with motion plus), the latter of which sounds promising. Backhand recongnition. Angle recognition. I’m in. Now if only I can talk someone into handling player movement like this.
