MadCatz makes mad money thanks to Wii Fit, Rock Band

Landfills that don’t even exist yet were all hot and bothered this morning following the impressive sales data out of gaming accessory manufacterer MadCatz.

The company ended the quarter down slightly, but was still heavy on cash, thanks in part to Wii Fit accessories that have without a doubt offered their new owners minutes of exercise help before being shoved beneath the TV stand.

Rock Band accessories also rounded out the MadCatz big seller list, which is probably due to the phenomena that saw people disguise their kits with add-ons and stickers, because what they really wanted for Christmas was Guitar Hero: World Tour.

Wii Rock Band 2 music store now open for business

The Rock Band music store is now available on the Wii. The store launched today with 50 songs, which includes Rock Band 2′s 20 free bonus tracks. Harmonix said more DLC will be released in the coming weeks to “catch Wii users up with other systems, ” Joystiq reports. That is all.

The music rhythm genre may be saturated on the Xbox 360 and PS3 due to yearly Guitar Hero and Rock Band editions, but Wii owners are still trying to get a cut of the full band experience pie. Harmonix’s original Rock Band on Wii was ultimately an unfinished product due to limited soundtrack, missing game modes and complete lack of downloadable content. Rock Band 2 for the Wii promises to uphold the exact same features as its rival consoles, but did Harmonix achieve this goal?

Rock Band 2 is better than Guitar Hero World Tour on Wii

Having played both Rock Band 2 (RB2) and Guitar Hero World Tour (GHWT), I can now deliver my final opinion:  Rock Band 2 is better. That’s a pretty broad statement, so let me break it down.
