Nintendo of America has yet to announce, or even acknowledge the existence of, Xenoblade, The Last Story, or Pandora’s Tower. This has made themightyme on the IGN Boards angry enough to write letters…on actual paper.

So here is the basic premise. In the past, fans of television shows on the brink of cancellation have banded together to get networks to bring them back. How was this accomplished? It’s as easy as writing letters and sending gifts that represent the cause. For example, fans of the series Veronica Mars sent the UPN network Mars candy-bars in droves.

Although there is no guarantee of this letter campaign achieving anything, just thinking of hundreds of beef jerky sticks arriving at the desk of Reggie Fils-Amie is hilarious.

Nintendo 3DS press conference on January 19th

Nintendo 3DS press conference on January 19th

In less than four weeks, Nintendo will be hosting a press event in New York City. There will be hands on demos and a presentation by Reggie. I think it’s safe to assume we’ll finally be given a launch date and pricing information. Hopefully it’ll be close to or even before the Japanese release date of February 26th, but also hopefully less than the nearly $300 price tag (once you convert from yen).

Think we’ll get any other surprises at the event?

Fake Reggie Twitter Account Suspended; Real Reggie Should Take a Hint

Fake Reggie Twitter Account Suspended; Real Reggie Should Take a Hint

A few days ago, a Twitter account appeared that had Nintendo fans both skeptical and delighted. Reggie Fils-Aime (@NintendoReggie) began speaking to the Twitterverse about how he had played the demo to the latest Zelda Wii title, talking smack to Kevin Butler (@thekevinbutler, VP at PlayStation) about the PSP Go, and teasing the announcement of a “beloved franchise” to be announced at E3.

However, this afternoon, the account was pulled by Twitter, no doubt after Nintendo put the kai-bosh on this impostor. While this hype train clearly was fake from the get-go (Reggie of all people is know for being tight-lipped and trying to keep the hype under control), it makes me wonder why more executives don’t use this tool. After all, Kevin Butler is on Twitter and is very interactive with Sony fans. Granted, its not exactly a priority for Reggie (or any other executive for that matter), but it did seem like it could have been a good opportunity to generate excitement among Nintendo fans.

And don’t try to tell me that Nintendo already does this with their official account (@NintendoAmerica). We all know that account is crap.
