Resident Evil Revelations finally gets an official release date, zombie hunters everywhere rejoice

Resident Evil Revelations, or the Resident Evil game for 3DS that isn’t a complete rip-off now has an official release date. From what I played of the game in it’s E3 build, I can most definitely say that this title will be something 3DS owners will want to have in there collection. Mercenaries 3D was a nice distraction and had some fun, addictive beat-the-high-score style gameplay, but honestly it could have been an additional mode in a proper Resident Evil title (just as the mercenaries mini-games before it were in Resident Evil 4 and 5).

Revelations looks to be another title in the tried and true Resident Evil universe that sticks to the survival horror gameplay that has made the Resident Evil titles great. What I want in my Resident Evil titles is inventory management coupled with a few mind boggling puzzles to break up the “shoot the zombie in the head” gameplay.

If you plan on picking up the game, it may be worth your while to preorder from LameGameStop as they are offering a free bonus 3DS case to those that do. The 3DS case changes in the sunlight making your 3DS that much nerdier cooler.

Resident Evil Revelations will be available in North America on February 7, 2012. Who plans on picking up the game come next year?

If everyone asks nicely, Asura’s Wrath could come to Wii U

If everyone asks nicely, Asura's Wrath could come to Wii U

Doesn’t the retro Capcom chime just feel, right? Asura’s Wrath, an upcoming game from CyberConnect2 and Capcom, was first shown at Tokyo Game show and announced as a new title for the Xbox 360 and Playstion 3. Now Capcom has gone on record saying they would be willing to bring the game to the Wii U console, if enough people voiced their opinions on the companies forums and Facebook page. Sounds like a challenge to me.

More  third party games on Nintendo platforms is always a good thing, so as long as this fighter controls well and has interesting characters, I say bring it on. If you  have even the slightest interest for this game, it is your duty as a Nintendo fanboy (or fanman) to let Capcom know that you would be interested in their upcoming title. If anything, it looks to have an interesting fighting mechanic that will “change according to the story,” or so says the game’s producer Kasuhiro Tsuyachiya.

Head past the break to check out another trailer and some cool art from the game and decide for yourself if you wish to support the cause.

[thanks for the tip Ramon!]

Send Capcom a message: Don’t buy Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D

Send Capcom a message: Don't buy Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D

The reason: The game does not let you reset saved game data. Why? Presumably as a parlor trick to disuade used (or as I call them: pre-owned) game sales. But Capcom ambiguously says that’s not the case.

“Secondhand game sales were not a factor in this development decision,” Capcom said in a statement to Giant Bomb. “This feature does not remove any content available for users.”

But as Ben at Ars Technica notes, “If this isn’t to hurt the resale value, why else would you do this? This hurts everyone who buys a copy of the game, and significantly harms the long-term replayability of the title…So thanks, Capcom. You have made my purchasing decision much easier.”

Please join Ben in boycotting the game, won’t you? Besides, haven’t you played like 10 iterations of Resident Evil already?
