I was also really hoping there’d be no clones. It seems like such a cheap way to boost character count. For example, Sakurai should’ve just gone with TP Link or WW Link. Do we really need both? That second Link spot could’ve been occupied by Midna, Ridley, or (insert any of Nintendo’s dozens of worthy characters excluded from Brawl).
I’m glad Olimar and Pit made the cut, though. It’s great to see two superb Nintendo franchises, one newer and one veteran, taking their places next to Mario, Zelda and Metroid in Brawl. Very cool.
As for the final smashes…meh. Some of them are extremely cool, some seem kinda weak-sauce. I am disappointed that each of the three Star Fox characters has the same final smash. Why not give one an Arwing, or something?
But it’s hard to nitpick about this game. And really, maybe even unnecessary. It looks absolutely stunning.
What would’ve been really cool was if Fox got the BlueMarine (that’s the Sub from Star Fox 64, right?), and the whole level would fill with water. When your opponents would try to move it be like having the metal cap underwater in Super Mario 64 (slow and love gravity), and the Blue Marine could could shoot torpedoes and have underwater enemies come up.
Falco could have the Landmaster, with all the features it has now.
And lastly, Wolf would have his Awring (there’s a specific name, but I’m not remembering it), and it would be a bit like Snakes Final Smash, but it would be in the back, and coming in from far away, shooting lasers and bombs (3 bombs, blue lasers), then finally zooming in through the middle, hitting whatever enemies that are in the way.
The first 15 seconds made me LOL.
The hell? So Luigi’s Final Smash is a bad acid trip?
They eat mushrooms and grow bigger. Makes sense to me.
I wish the Metroid series had more representation. Why do we need so many Star Fox and Kirby characters? And Luigi’s final was…odd.
Luigi,
I can’t think of anything to say.
I’m still in shock.
P.S. Drugs?
flippin’ sweet!
Luigi force feeds Poison Mushies?
Ganondorf looks sweet – Jigglypuff looks tactically tantalizing and Diddy Kong looks… well… hard to control and rather crap.
I thought no clones… >.
they forgot game and watch
and yes, i was disappointed in the clone smashes also, though i dont mind clone characters too much since each is still quite different in attributes

(Sorry to comment again)

Just my little fankid moment.
