Should Retro studios return to the Metroid series?

I was thinking this over the last few days wondering what Retro Studios will work on after Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze. I know many people want Metroid Prime 4 and I do too but how about Retro works on a new Starfox game. A series I think could do with a reboot because the storyline for that game license is getting out of hand due to it being passed around without a consistant developer. If Nintendo would ever would consider doing a reboot.  Other franchises Retro could tackle is  a Kid Icarus game in the style of an action game (Devil May Cry or Bayonetta style).

What could Retro do for Starfox?

So should Retro return to Metroid or move on to something new altogether, what do you think?

Metroid all the way!!! If Retro is burned out on Metroid, then they should do something else.

No, I want something new from Retro! Perhaps Star Fox, Star Tropics or Zelda.

  3. Demos says:

Retro has done enough with Metroid. Time to move on.
Still, SOMEBODY should start up a couple of 2D Metroid games.
Goddamn Nintendo are just sitting on their hands as I throw money at my computer….

It wouldn’t hurt to experiment with it but Retro needs a break on Metroid

Definitely would love a little more Metroid Prime. Retro’s spin on the gameplay, atmosphere, and environmental mechanics were second to none.

    Star Fox? …Eh. Not sure.

Also, Colin, I don’t mean to sound like a prude, but there’s a few run-ons and the slightest bit of grammatical imperfection, including your staff description. =P Just thought you’d rather know than not. Love the speculative articles.

I’m sorry about the errors. Thanks for pointing it out

I wouldn’t be interested in Metroid Prime kind of games. I hate first person shooters. If it was third person then maybe. But I think it would be awesome if they got them to make a new open world adventure game with brand new characters. Something franchise worthy.

This is strange. Go to google and type in “retro studios”. For their own page, the description says they develop for the Gamecube. Um….

Anyway, I’d vote Star Fox. I played Star Fox 64 countless times, and it simply never got old. The other Star Fox games have been pretty lame in comparison. They really need a great sequel to this already. That game was a pretty long time ago.

Metroid Prime was the first console video game I had ever played. When Seamus finally escapes the space station and lands in that awesome environment I nearly wet my pants. Now every game I start and don’t care for, I immediately think, “Maybe its like Metroid”.. but it never is. Even every other Metroid is not like Prime, boo hoo!
