Anyone buying this?

Not for $40. Thats what it was priced at for the 360, and this is a port.
Had they gone with $30, I would have.

I loved the 360 version, but I heard some horror stories about the Wii version’s control scheme. I’ll rent first.

Drew, I’m right there with you. 360 had impressive visuals and oddly addicting gameplay. I don’t see it translating well to wii. I would rent a back up game as well.

Odd… I originally hard bad things about the game, but I remember reading an update from IGN that said they actually quite liked (even strongly preferred) the new Wii controls. Also, while obviously up to par with the Xbox360 visuals, these graphics look great (especially character animation / fluidity.)
Though I’d wait for a few official reviews.

And here one is now! Just as I thought…
Closing Comments
Not a lot has changed over the last year for Rockstar Presents Table Tennis. Wii owners are getting the same game, the same characters, the same locales, the same unlockables, and the same options as the 360 version before it – they’re even getting the game at the same budget price. What you won’t get, however, are the dazzling graphics or online play, and for some that’ll be enough to stay away from this one altogether. For traditional, hardcore purists, however, they’ll look beyond the somewhat basic gameplay of Table Tennis and focus on the truth of the matter: Rockstar Presents Table Tennis is the real deal, tons of fun to play, and wonderfully simplistic. The game could have used an overhaul, and if Rosktar decides to keep the series alive it could use more options and far more content – a career mode and mini-games are nowhere to be seen – but as it stands it’s still just as strong of a game now as it was a year ago. It’s a port, its simple in design, but we won’t deny its fun factor. By yourself the game may be a bit too shallow, but all it’ll take is a friend and a Wii-mote and you’ll have a solid, fast-paced budget title to fill a few Saturday afternoons.

I still think I would prefer online, better graphics, and controls designed for the game.
If i had a 360 the choice would be clear But overall it’s a rent on either system.

I love playing Table Tennis in real life. If the Wii version can get anywhere near as intense as a good game of tt, and have some decent controls, I’ll be picking the game up when I go get Hottest party.

Frisby – If you prefer “controls designed for the game,” then I think you’d prefer the Wii controls: Certainly motion controls (if well done) are superior to joystick controls… for a table tennis game!

I would agree if the game was made first and foremost as a Wii title.
To use the the term hate to hear, this game has “tacked on” controls. I home Rockstar has some Wii titles in the future that where made for the Wii, not good enough to port to the Wii.

Well, after reading IGN’s review and looking how it got the same score (7.9) i was quite impressed and decided to give this a try- it is actually pretty neat. Great, solid game overall and im sure that if ping pong was anywhere as popular as football, this game would’ve got 8.5-9 for both versions.
If you ask me, go with the wii versions if the concept of ping pong excites you. I recommend you give this game a go! and give it a thumbs up, 4/5, 8.5/10!

I already got Wii Tennis and I’m sure it’s tons better than this.

Just looking at the video at IGN the game looks decent and plays great ..this makes me to defy anybody for a round of Table Tennis ..
To play it alone is an ok game but if you hand over another wii-mote to friend and having a group of ppl over at your house this game will rock ..
7.9 as a stand alone game is effing great ….it was scored for low lasting appeal that is no online multi.. otherwise it wouldve been an 8.5 maybe a 9.0 easy, besides that it looks like a great game …I think a game shouldnt be jugde by online multi , online multi is an extra option for more extended play.. because they are others that dont mind online features at all…
This comes from sombody that likes online multi games and still this game looks like its amazing to play with…
this weekend I’ll take my Wii to my bro in law and with some cold beers they will be some serious a$$ kicking..

It doesn’t really matter if a game was made specifically for the Wii if it’s still bad. A port can beat the crap out of an original game.
October 17th, 2007 at 6:31 pm
…What? Is this game even good?
October 18th, 2007 at 7:46 am
Lucky you, it’s £40 here = $80
Games are just too expensive for the Wii, it’s no wonder people aren’t playing them when games are nearly as much as 360

If it were 20$, then I’d get it.
