“Bottom-up GTA on the Wii?” Yes, please, Reggie says

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008 at 7:51am by Jack

I think we’ve visited this topic before, perhaps in 2007, but once again NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime was singing the praises of Take Two and Grand Theft Auto. As for a GTA game on the Wii? Take Two should probably take note that it shouldn’t be a port. That might make Reggie angry, and you don’t want to see Reggie when he’s angry…

All I can tell you is that since the day I walked in the door, I’ve had a very good relationship with the folks at Take Two, continue to have a good relationship. And so in our view we want just the best content coming on our platforms… You know, a GTA on the Wii is all based on what Rockstsar and Take Two want to do. And again, from our standpoint, if they build a bottoms-up game that takes advantage of what we do well, I’d love to see it on the platform

So many veiled little comments in that statement. I assume he means “no dead hookers of any kind” by that last sentence, or something. Anyone have any thoughts on what a great “bottom up,” or original GTA game on the Wii should look like?

Grand theft auto with Miis, and tons of mini games, oh yeah and have mario in there some where …. cause this is what core gamers want. We want mini games, Miis, and all kinds of crazy devices to input our toe movement into the game. (Sarcasm)

Honestly, I dont care about GTA I want something new and innovative not a port or remake of something done over and over again. Where are the Wii puzzle games my wife enjoys? now those are true casual games, where are the action adventure games I enjoy, the epic RPG’s, the killer first person shooters.

All I see are ports and mini games, mini games can be fun in moderation but when your entire selection is just mini games it bites.

And why did Nintendo announce a bunch of launch titles that they seemingly will never deliver. Hammer and Disaster days are more vapor ware then anything else. They called those core games one year ago and now they call Animal X’n core games now, did the definition change?

I see these tactics more as bait and switch, heres something you want and here is what we will give you. People are loosing faith and how long can they ride this out.

My wii has been off for more then a month now, think about that nintendo…

New GTA for Wii should be the ultimate peripheral game. Wii Wheel for the driving sequences, Wii Zapper for all the shooting, and the Wii Balance Board for the Hot Coffee mod.

I have always wanted to play GTA in a cel shaded form that mimics the loading screen and cover art greatly. I’ve been begging for it constantly. If it hits wii I want that to happen, I don’t care how much people explode about the graphics, but it will be a beautiful and much more expressful game.

GTA was always ugly on the PS2 and Xbox, buit it was always meant to look like that. It madfe the game look much more real than it was and it was a style that made the game beautiful, but I still wants my cel shaded graffix nowz!
