Poll - Mario Kart Wii vs Brawl
Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 at 11:03am by David
Super Smash Bros Brawl is out in less than an week, but barely two months later Nintendo will release Mario Kart Wii. The two brands may appeal to totally different crowds, but this week we want to know:
Is Nintendo releasing Mario Kart Wii too soon after Brawl?
Let us know why you voted the way you did in Comments!

YES. I won’t have enough time to own Brawl before I go get Kart!

scuze me, that’s “own AT brawl”
March 4th, 2008 at 11:13 am
NOOOO! The more the better!!
March 4th, 2008 at 11:30 am
Not really. I know some people who don’t want Brawl (yeah, I know), but are crazy for Mario Kart (mainly kids with over-protective parents). Besides, if you have both, it’s twice the fun!

Not at all. Like Lyksan said, you get both and get twice as many options for multiplayer extravaganzas.

I predict Mario Kart will be delayed until the holidays anyway. It’s the Nintendo way!

is two months too soon?? heck no. bring on teh kart!

I’d prefer three months at least between AAA titles…

Brawl will be a game I play on a weekly basis whenever it comes out so if another AAA game were to come out a year later, I’d still be playing brawl. I’m happy for many games to come out, especially since I can actually afford them at the moment.

I’m betting Nintendo doesn’t need to delay Mario Kart as their big holiday blockbuster. I think they have more than a few secrets in store for Q3/Q4 2008.

PS: I voted “no.” The idea that less than two months between Smash and Kart could somehow be “rushing” things is ludicrous, a mere product of Nintendo’s constant delaying and overly strategic, overly spaced release dates.
Smash in the spring. Kart and Wii Fit in the summer. And who knows what else in the fall and winter. Release patterns like that keep the Wii library exciting, active and new. And most of all, filled with system-selling software.

Or you could wait to buy Mario Kart Wii until october if you think it’s too soon, you don’t have to buy it right away if you don’t want to.

I don’t think so, no. It should first be noted that there is no set release date for Mark Kart Wii (not that I’m aware of, anyway), so we can’t guarantee it’s coming out two in about two months.
Release date or not, I think it’s good of Nintendo to give people 2 months to enjoy Brawl and then (presumably) move onto Kart. Just imagine, if there were 3 months between the titles, people would complain about a Nintendo drought.

” I’m betting Nintendo doesn’t need to delay Mario Kart as their big holiday blockbuster. I think they have more than a few secrets in store for Q3/Q4 2008.”
I REALLY hope you are right. If Mario Kart Wii gets pushed back, I think Nintendo doesn’t have anything big, but if it stays on schedule we can only assume there is something B I G coming for Autumn… What could it be? =)
2 months apart is more than a long enough. IF you actually think that the games are coming out ” so close together” then just DON’T BUY IT WHEN IT COMES OUT.
Simple solution. Even for a fanBoy.

No, because we really need decent multiplayer games. Wii Sports got old a long time ago. I don’t like Mario Party or Strikers. And in my circle, we play GH on other systems.

Oh, one more thing, I’m from UK so I get mario kart on April 11th
importing Brawl so I will get that early! gaming awesomeness!

As much as I want to believe that Mario Kart Wii could be coming out in May here in the US just makes me look like a COMPLETE n00b. I mean, it’s WAAAAYY TOO SOON to be bringing out a AAA title like Mario Kart out onto the Wii when we’re pratically just about 4 days away from Brawl now. Besides, I’m sure it’s probably really slated for a early July 2008 release maybe, then to be followed up by Animal Crossing Wii in the Q4 of 2008.

i could care less about Smash, so the answer for me personally is NO. I can’t wait for Mario Kart
March 5th, 2008 at 1:14 pm
I was looking for a “HELL, No!” but didn’t see one, so had to settle for voting “No.”
March 5th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
i want both!!!! PLUS i want new pikmin and pilot wings and everything nintendo
March 5th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Yes and no, while they’re both first party “Mario” games… I think each has their own demographic even is there is some overlap.
March 6th, 2008 at 12:45 am
the quicker more online-compatible games are brought out, the better.

Nintendo has been doing a good job spreading out their titles thus far. It’s a smart idea to release these two titles during the normal post-holiday drought. The Wii is proving that the old cycles of releasing games are irrelevant when you are targeting the general consumer.
