Off topic: Who’s the better singer: Mark or Tom?
Wednesday, February 11th, 2009 at 1:30pm by Boss Hog
As one of the catchiest popular punk bands in history, I was stoked to learn of Blink-182’s regrouping and subsequent new album this summer. Dudes write fun riffs and I digg their playful style (especially during hot summers), even if they’re not as “hardcore” as pioneers of the genre.
So to take a time out on gaming, I ask that you indulge me, kind Infendo reader. Which is the better singer: Mark or Tom? I prefer the piercing and in-your face sound of Tom a little more, which is a surprise because I like the opposite when it comes to the Beatles, prefering Paul over John.
What about you?

neither. worst band of the 90s.
joe strummer wins though.
ps i prefer paul too.

Thanks for playing… I guess.
As long as they both get to sing I’m fine. I sometimes like Mark’s seriousness when talking about funny things and sometimes enjoy Tom’s crazy tone more.
I was totally oblivious to this fact so thank you for the heads up by the way.

I prefer K.K. Slider over both of them.
(you know…because this is a Nintendo blog)

Depends on what kind of mood I’m in, but both are equally as great.
And Tylor, my friend, you must have been deprived as a child. Blink-182 is hands down the best pop punk band of the late 90’s/early 2000’s.

well said Ben
but i wasn’t expecting to see this pop up on here but still……
I’d say defiantly mark
+44 trumps AVA

Mark. But they’re both nothing w/out they’re amazing drummer Travis.

Allow me to say, on behalf of people everywhere that don’t care for shitty music, who gives a crap?
February 11th, 2009 at 4:20 pm
Blink-182 is definitely not my cup of tea – and that’s an informed opinion, since I own two of their albums.
February 11th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
Axl Rose.
No but really, from what I heard, I like Mark much better.
February 11th, 2009 at 5:18 pm
How about neither? Blink 182 was that awful three chord, nasal cacophony that made me wonder why I wasn’t famous.
How about a Bruce Dickinson vs. Ronnie James Dio Smackdown?

if you don’t like them, then don’t comment.
duhh
February 11th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
Yes! I love blink-182! I like that they both sing, actually. I like Mark just a bit more but that may be because I’m a bass player.

I’m with Kyle on this one.

@ Saltybob: Conversation = different points of view
duuuuh

I guess whichever one is in Angels & Airwaves? My guilty pleasure of 2006 was “The Adventure”. Otherwise, I didn’t care for much of their music.
February 11th, 2009 at 10:42 pm
I was lucky to catch both AVA and +44 when they came to Toronto, on their first turn around. By far +44 is a better group, regardless of the drummer. I do not even care for Travis Barker, I would rather hear someone like ?uest love.
In conclusion making Hoppus the better singer.
Tom is just a douche.
February 12th, 2009 at 5:29 am
@Jamaces I totally agree. I went to a concert a few years ago and Angeles and Airwaves was one of the backup bands. Tom’s vocals were way off. Pitch was all over the place. Therefore Mark has to be a better drummer.
I didn’t know blink 182 was coming back and I find it hilarious I’m getting this news from a Nintendo site of all places.

^ err Mark has to be a better singer.
February 12th, 2009 at 5:55 am
Regardless of how much Blink 182 started going downhill during their last few years…I still love em.
Without them I probably wouldn’t have gotten into most of the stuff I listen to today.
That being said….neither of them is very good at singing.
But I guess I’ll go with Mark since he didn’t need the reberb level turned up to 11 on his releases.

I weep for the future.
February 12th, 2009 at 2:31 pm
@ Ben
No, deprived doesn’t cover it. At that point in my life I was listening to Operation Ivy, Green Day albums from when they were on Lookout records, Lagwagon, Nofx, I Against I, Rancid, all the ska bands I could get my late 90s teen hands on and etc…, then I heard Blink on the radio one day, cried a little inside, and realized that punk had been dead even before I knew it existed.

Blink-182 > Tylor
February 12th, 2009 at 3:52 pm
dude its a nintendo/video games news site not your goddamn blog
February 12th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
yeah. it sure is offtopic posting a poll about some gay boyband
wth
February 12th, 2009 at 4:57 pm
I laugh at the notion that there is even a genre called “pop punk”. Than’s an oxymoron if there ever was.
Anyway, they’re ok, but I never really took them that seriously. I might go to their concert if I got a free ticket or something but otherwise nah.
February 12th, 2009 at 5:43 pm
blink 182 and green day (i threw that in there for good measure) worst the worst bands of the 90’s. all of their stuff sounds the same; mind numbingly horrible and not even close to punk. if we’re talking real punk i’ll take henry rollins or johnny rotten anyday. i know i probably just pissed off a bunch of people and my apologies just sayin…
February 12th, 2009 at 7:24 pm
man Blink-182 is one of my favorite bands. I was so stoked when I heard about them getting back together. as far as better singer they cant really be compared there styles are to diffrent and thats why its awesome when they both sing in a song. I like em both.
February 15th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
I like Mark better, but a lot of Tom songs are great as well. Take Off your pants and Jacket is Mark’s better album and Enema of the State is Tom’s better album- but they both have good songs on both albums. Tom couldn’t even sing on Dude Ranch though, and his sound has changed a lot, Mark sounds the same usually, but he is a great singer so that’s ok.
February 15th, 2009 at 10:43 pm
I love them both, but If I had to choose Mark. Blink 182 is the best band
