Nyko’s Perfect Shot Wii glock looks fun

Having already been sold on cheap shooter peripherals with the release of Link’s Crossbow Training, this impending $13 plastic Wii gun made by Nyko and shipping in January looks fun. It even has a pass-through port for Nunchuck movement. Sweet and cheap, as I like to say.

That’s no Glock, looks more like a Colt M1911A1
I could see myself using this one though.

Looks nicer than the Zapper, but I gotta think I’ll get the Zapper anyway just for Link’s Crossbow Training. For someone else whose style is more Resident Evil, this would seem a lot more appropriate.

Hrm…does the trigger ‘click’ or can you do rapid fire with this? (Basically, is it like a NES light gun or an arcade gun?)

How well do these gun peripherals?
I was under the impression that the Wii remote didn’t really point at the TV (using the sensor bar instead to determine where it was pointing), so that aiming wouldn’t work. Although I love the way Perfect Shot looks, I wouldn’t buy without hearing a positive review first.

ejamer, ghost squad has a way of turning off the onscreen cursor, and calibrating your shot. in effect its actually quite good with one of these guns, very close to the arcade feel. i suggest you buy one of these and ghost squad. i’m definitely getting this.

Definitely more attractive than the Wii Zapper, although Link’s Crossbow Training has priority.

There have already been spottings of Links Crossbow Trainer on the GS shelves with the other pre-owned games. So I might just get this since it looks more like an old Zapper. I have the NES skin for my Wii so it would make a perfect fit to the old-schooler

Definitely more attractive than the Wii Zapper, and a lot less PC.

Ghost Squad works awesome with no pointer! The Wii Zapper makes aiming easy.
This gun enclosure looks cool, but I think I’ve seen better.
Word of warning… buy this gun before the crying politicians and soccer moms get it taken off the market!

On a side note: don’t all these gun enclosures make you wish the Wiimote had more weight and a much stronger rumble pack? I sure do.
I smell a future mod coming from someone.

Correct me if I’m wrong… but to me it seems that this gun has already launched in Europe for.. well, 4 months?
I seem to recognize this model, I’m practically sure I’ve seen it in stores here already…
but I *could* be wrong, but it seems VERY similar to what I’ve seen =)

@AC: Thanks for the response! I was a bit worried about calibration and aiming… but if games already take that into account then I’m sold on the idea.
With Umbrella Chronicles and the new Medal of Honor game available now, and House of the Dead in development, this zapper-style pistol will be awesome!
@Brian: I agree that stronger rumble would be sweet when using this accessory… but maybe the casing is light enough that the rumble will still come through when playing? We’ll have to wait and see.

I would definitely buy this before I would ever pay $20 for the Zapper.

Totally getting this and Ghost Squad/UC when it’s released.
On a side note: a customer bought Time Crisis 4 today and opened it in the store. I was a bit surprised at first that it has it’s own kind of sensor bar, so I’m wondering how well it will truly emulate actual light gun games. A few seconds later I remembered that new TVs can’t even do the light guns anymore.

I dunno…It looks like cheap plastic, but I’ll give it a try.

This has definetly sparked my interest in the arcade, gun based games. I might wait until House of the Dead comes out though.

This is why it sucks that RE4 doesn’t let you configure the buttons … holding B to aim and pressing A to fire will simply not work with this peripheral.

My main hope is that it will work with the rechargeable battery packs that Nyko puts out that I have on both my Wiimotes. I’ve read that the Wii Zapper won’t fit them, and I have no desire to go back to the standard batteries.
Hopefully since Nyko is making both in this case, they’ve designed it so that the slightly larger rechargeable grips can fit.
