Nintendo nabs 70% of top ten video game sales this week

Video Game Chartz has their Top Ten software sales chart for America online and I can’t help but notice that 7 of the 10 are DS and Wii games. The three games that aren’t Nintendo releases are all Guitar Hero related.
This will most likely change with Bioshock coming out this week, so do you think Nintendo’s recent domination will take a back seat to the big titles coming out for Xbox 360 and PS3 this Fall?

Hell, no! Although, to be fair the competition will be a lot harder then ever.

With the success of the Wii and the upcoming release of Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, and the DS Lite packaged with Brain Age 2, Nintendo will be able to hold it’s own this fall. I think Sony is going to have the hardest time this fall.

No… i think it’ll be a little more equal for everyone though. All will have a front seat and the spotlight share on all 3 consoles with great software. With Sony having a the worst front seat while Nintendo and MS battle for the golden seat (which is still in the same row as sony’s, but better.)

Sony will have its niche, Xbox will have its bigger niche and Nintendo will continue to gain interest from everyone. It’s unfair to lump Nintendo in with the video game market anymore, the competition will never successfully appeal to anyone outside of their little elite clubs.

Of course xbox360 games will take over, The bad thing about it, it’s that it last a few weeks and then it dies down. And later Nintendo comes back to the top.

I have a suspicion that even with amazing review scores Bioshock may not sell as well as we all think(Like Okami). Simply because it doesnt have online multiplayer.
I know online is not the be all end all, but on 360 for an FPS it kind of is. Wii owners are different, Metroid without online is okay for us (mainly because if we play multiplayer it is a party game). So I think Metroid will sell better than Bioshock. That is just my opinion, but to back it up…take a look at my roommate;
My roommate is basically your standard 360 owner in all respects his currently playing list is; Gears of War, Guitar Hero 2, and NCAA 08. When I told him to download the Bioshock demo he said, “I’m really not that excited for it, I mean I’m not THAT into FPS, besides I dont think it has any online, but I’ll download the demo if you wanna check it out later”
Anyways, this was longer than I expected it to be, basically Bioshock may not sell as well as we think, in my opinion.

What “big titles”, David?
You mean Halo 3? (That’s about the only big seller I can think of for the other consoles!)

I’m just thinking Bioshock, Heavenly Sword, Assassin’s Creed, Blue Dragon, Halo 3, and maybe Rock Band.
They’ve all got some decent buzz going.

Oh, David, I thought you mean actual Nintendo-published material… which, wow, that’s 60% right there. Awesome.
