Nintendo asks GameStop to reserve shelf space for ‘major holiday release’

GameStop Dan Dematteo dropped a big one today. No, he didn’t admit that his company should pay more for trade-ins, he revealed that Nintendo has asked that his company set aside significant holiday shelf space for a major first party release later this year.

“We think there will be a Nintendo key property coming out by the end of the year,” Dematteo said. “They haven’t given us any insight, but they have told us to reserve [shelf] space.”

Our money is on a Zelda title, which we probably won’t hear anything about until a month before launch (as is Nintendo’s new way). And there you have it.
