It’s not as good as a DS redesign, I suppose, but it’s close: new DS colors are arriving in Europe!
Nintendo has confirmed that three new DS models will go on sale in Europe on June 13. The SKUs are simply different colours – red, turquoise and green – and will be priced at GBP 99. [GameIndustry.biz]
On another note, Wii Fit’s should be arriving at your doorsteps today (or at GameStop, et all).

Whoa! Awesome! When is it coming to America?
I’ll talk with my friend at NOA about it.
I’m pretty confident the NOA Employee store’s already got ‘em, just not the public yet.
Right now I have the coral pink DS Lite. I’m usually not a fan of pink, but the shade is very nice and not too bright. These colors look equally as pleasing. I really like both the green and turquoise… although even if they do come to America I probably won’t buy one. A new color change isn’t a good enough excuse to purchase a whole new DS.
Anyone else notice a color similarity between the green and red DS redesigns and the originally revealed green and red Wii systems?
Perhaps this is an indicator of new Wii colors to come this holiday season? Or maybe I’m just too excited for E3 announcements.
It’s a great point, Derek. Wii is getting on into its sophomore phase, and a new color pallet at E3 would keep momentum going, as simple as that sounds. Yet another appeal for the fence sitters, ya know?
I don’t think it will be their big announcement, but it’ll be a nice little addition.
Also, I already got the Gold Triforce edition DS during Black Friday, so I won’t be getting one of these new colors, but I do think it’s a great move to release new colors for the DS – what’s even better, IMO, is that they are all one color – no hybrid style, which I think was a nifty idea in the beginning, but then started to just look not as cool as a single colored DS.
So far I’ve got the original DS, it’s “phatness” and all, and get this: It’s more functional than my DS Lite. (L button’s broken this time.)
Either way, cool new colors, doubt I’ll get any.
