New Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 trailer is amazing, despite not showing a lick of gameplay

My excitement level for Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 has been tepid at best. For one, I’m still bitter that the game will be a Nintendo DS title as opposed to Nintendo’s newest toy the 3DS. I understand all the reasoning behind Nintendo’s decision: the Nintendo DS has sold an ungodly amount of units and Nintendo is in the business to make money. Sure. I still however believe that it would have been a wiser decision to release a 3DS Pokémon title to drive sales of 3DS, and just as Nintendo titles always do, the new Pokémon title would continue to sell well for the duration of the handhelds lifespan.

But I digress. The reason you are all here is to watch the newest trailer for Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 and I will not disappoint. In the latest trailer Nintendo opted to not show any new gameplay, but rather showcase what is arguably the best Pokémon anime ever produced. Yes, I mean even better than the licensed 4Kids/The Pokémon company version that airs each and every Saturday morning. The original Pokémon Black and White took a much darker tone than the previous entries in the franchise, and hopefully judging by the above Japanese trailer, Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 will follow suit.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m super excited to play the newest entry in the Pokémon franchise, and will most likely spend countless hours trying to catch ’em all. But I want a 3DS Pokémon, and no amount of tacked on 3D features will change my mind about that.

I, too, want a true 3DS Pokemon RPG. I’m guessing Nintendo took this route because a 3DS game (hopefully in the works) will take much longer to get to market, and they want money in the bank *now*. I’m actually looking forward to the 3DS eShop companion titles just as much as the game itself! 🙂

Not a lick of gameplay? I think we both have a good idea of what it will be like, eh?

While I would really like a 3DS pokémon, I’m not too bummed about this being a regular DS game anymore–I actually kinda hate using the circle pad as a menu-navigator or for 4-directional movement. It’s just awkward. There may need to be some changes for gen6.

  3. Thanks for another informative web site. Where else could I get that kind of information written in such a perfect way? I have a project that I am just now working on, and I have been on the look out for such info.
