    Gonna own.

Still real iffy with this title, leaning yes please and no thanks.

Either way, I still respect High Voltage doing a magnificent job on this game in spite of the generic sci-fi approach to it. Perhaps I am just too jaded with this title from playing Team Fortress 2.

  3. RummyCardGames says...

Nice, is now on my list.

  4. Verius says...

looks like my wallets gonna get a little lighter when this game comes out. definetly worth checking out for me

  5. Jonkind says...

Yeah, that does look pretty sexy. A bit Halo-esque, but that’s not a bad thing either – the Wii needs something like this. Hopefully it plays as good as it looks.

I do like the fact that wii is finally gonna have a futuristic first person shooter game with multiplayer, but I am still skeptical because it is a shooter on the wii, and generally wii shooters are not very much fun(except for RE 4, which is the only shooter that I really liked, but then again, I have not played a lot of wii shooters). Personally, I think that RE4 for the wii has better graphics then this trailer. Go ahead and bash me for what I am saying, but I just don’t know if this is going to be the greatest game for the wii that everybody is making it out to be.

  7. DmNt says...

This will be my first we title to buy in literally a year.

  8. ResidentialEvil says...

    RE4 isn’t a shooter.

I think it’s going to a good title but I do fear it’s being hyped too much. I’m hoping it turns out better than No More Heroes did, for me at least. That game was hyped a lot in the Wii community and after palying it I was kind of “ehh” about it. It’s good but not great.

  9. Mark says...

I’m am totally stoked for this game. I don’t even like FPS anymore, but this game needs to rewarded and played.

  10. DaveRage says...

I’m so burnt out on FPS’s right now, I won’t even rent Killzone 2. Seeing how this isn’t brining anything new to the table, I’m going to pass on this as well.

How about an FPS done in Civil War style, where you march step by step in one big line towards the enemy…

  11. Kannon says...

It looks more Perfect Dark alien levels then Halo, less we forget that Halo wasnt the first console FPS to feature alien weapons.

  12. XCWarrior says...

Wow I’m pretty impressed sometimes when you look at pretty games on the Wii like that and then look at games like Crusin’.

Impressive. Was going to buy it before, just gives me more reason to.

  13. mcdreamy says...

definitely reminds me of perfect dark. just more generic.

hope it’s fun. the AI looks dumb as bricks, but some good design should overcome that i suppose.

we can finally see if the wii audience supports this type of AAA game. the proposition was that the size of the wii audience will reward AAA games in ways other consoles can’t. so let’s see a quick 5 million in sales. cod4 got there in 20 weeks on the 360.

oh, and preemptively, i don’t want to hear “not enough advertising” or any other complete-BS excuses like were trotted out for W@W wii. I saw that thing’s trailer all over tv during the winter. it even has a good metacritic score! and it still couldn’t keep up with the sales of either of its ps60 brethren, despite a much larger install base than either.

now there’s no competition from the same IP looking prettier on other consoles, so let’s see some sales. otherwise i’m calling “casual” on the whole wii market from here to eternity and all the apologists can just eat it.

if i’m wrong, nothing happens! i’ll go to jail- peacefully. quietly. i’ll enjoy it. but if I’m right, and i did call this thing… Lenny….. YOU will have saved the lives of MILLIONS of registered voters.

    Flamio Hotman!

Excuse me while I change my pants…

Every time I see stuff from this game I want it more and more – can’t wait for it to arrive, I just hope we don’t get shafted over here in the UK and have to wait till Christmas or something.

@Kannon – Until you just mentioned it I hadn’t thought about Perfect Dark but now you have I can see The Conduit being Wii’s PD, which I would never say no to. That was awesome and the whole conspiracy idea of the Conduit does seem like a similar premise to Perfect Dark.

All I can say is bring it on!

  15. Lite says...

    I want it. Now.

  16. Craig says...

@DaveRage I feel the same way. I bought way too many FPS games for the Xbox 360 and I’m sick of them now. There’s really nothing I haven’t seen before.

Art style wise the game reminds me a lot of Perfect Dark for the N64 (the Xbox 360 had a drastically different art style).

I’ll probably end up renting this game, just to say I played it. 16 player multiplayer without paying $50 a year for an online service is a huge plus for this game.

    @ Robin Show

Understandable, in many ways but what this represents is something else. Artistically this game demonstrates nothing positively mind blowing to write home about. Yeah it has a nice varied set of alien thingy’s crawling around some more or less interesting locales. We’ve seen the alien tech thing before. Certainly it’s difficult to argue that this game has so far developed an artistic atmosphere more compelling and splendid than RE4. But then we are comparing the might of Capcom to the out-of-nowhere’ness of High Voltage so it’s somewhat to be expected.

No, what makes this game graphically superior to RE4 (and btw, I hold that Art is King) is that this game is throwing around shading effects typical of PC titles out the Wazoo, and RE4 simply doesn’t. It’s no good without corresponding talent in the art department (though I wouldn’t suggest this game is devoid in that area either – it certainly looks nicely done, and colourful rather than the drabness our HD cousins have come to expect), but the graphical impressiveness of this game is in the technology, and the potential it holds. It demonstrates in real terms that 3rd parties can – and should- be using normal maps, detail maps, depth of field, gloss mapping, lighting bloom etc. on the Wii to enhance their art, just as they do on the less popular systems.

I’m kinda glad that this’ll be coming out in the summer. I won’t have anything else to play at that time and it should be right when I’m looking for something new.

And to those saying that the wii has abandoned the hardcore and this game will prove it, well I think Mad World will likely have the honor of proving if the audience craves more hardcore. So we just need to wait till the end of the month.

  19. HyperPhazon says...

First let me say this: I if anyone, want this to be a good game.

Now, with that out of the way, onto my concerns.

We’ve heard a lot about this game, and we’ve seen some of it, and it does look rather pretty. My problem is that we have seen very little of the actual game play. As anyone here can (and probably will) tell you, graphics don’t make a game. While I have my hopes up for this game, I would really like to see some extended (i.e. longer that 5 second clips) gameplay footage before I formally state any opinions. Still, here’s wishing High Voltage and Sega the best of luck. (Mainly because I want to see a good FPS on the Wii and partly because if this bombs, publishers can use this as an excuse not to make the so-called “core” games for the Wii.)

  20. Run line 10 says...

I’m waiting on this one. This will be my goldeneye for the Wii. I’m a FPS player and I still play quake 3 and rocket arena, freeze mods on it along with ETQW. Seriously if they get the controls right me and that whole fan base will be playing this game. Unlike other FPS fans we stick to what we like and get very very good at it.

As an artist, designer I’m liking what they have here. It’s not too out there but it works for me as a FPS because it shows progress on the Wii.

You have a graphics engine which can do great normal maps on the in game characters right now.

Then you have a control system that should rival Metroid prime and a simple online multiplayer. That is all I need good controls and opponents.

Crysis and UT3 where boring because they only pushed graphics and fail to understand why FPS fan love to play the games they play. Great graphics are cool but good level design and control is all we really needed.

If this game does end up a flopping things will operate just like other games that should have been flops. People will play it and love it. You know Res evil 4 Wii-make was suppose to be a flop too! It will develop a following if the controls are good and graphics will be updated in the next version watch!

    @ hyper

at what point would another 3rd party AAA bomb stop becoming an “excuse” (by which you seem to infer developers making an irrational or unsupported choice not to develop hardcore games) and start becoming an accurate reflection of the wii-audience’s preference for casual games?

  22. HDmaverick says...

deepthought an excuse is only an excuse, it doesn’t need to be true for people to except it.

Looser will continue to say this is the reason why they can not compete while winners will tell you this is the reason why we are fixing or changing the way we make things

  23. deepthought says...

haha- the mcdreamy comment is mine- forgot to change my name back after making a joke about the gray’s anatomy game.

  24. Lance B. says...

I already payed off the game. No lie. I have followed it since it was first mentioned on the Wii. I know it will be good, and people need to buy it and support this AAA title. It will be incredible.

PS. I think that Wii will gain respect as a hardcore console. Believe it!

  25. Lance says...

@ Lance B. I too have been following the game since it’s announcement, and I must say that it definitely has come a long way from it’s initial showing. This is definitely a must buy now. I won’t preorder it as I’ve stopped trusting preorders due to huge delays (THANKS NINTENDO FOR DELAYING Twilight Princess FOR FIVE F’ING YEARS!!!!!) And yes, that is the reason I stopped preordering as it makes you kinda feel like you just got scammed 50 dollars when the game is delayed so many times.

Eitherway this game looks amazing and I look forward to fragging someone online in the near future. (Please no friend codes.)
