Virtual Console goes psychedelic this week!

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards - N64 - 2000 - 1,000 Wii Points
Kirby’s first 3-D adventure is also his Nintendo 64 debut, and it finds the always-versatile hero battling a new enemy called Dark Matter. Dark Matter is after a distant land’s powerful crystal, but a young fairy named Ribbon attempts to save it by escaping with the gem to Dream Land.

Psychosis - TG16 - 1990 - 600 Wii Points
This is a side-scrolling shooter played in a world created from the mind of a twisted demon. Your soul has suddenly wandered into that evil world that exists in every person’s heart.

Will either of these games entice some Wii Points out of your virtual pocket?

That Kirby game is very good. Maybe the best Kirby game. It was the sheer amount and variety of power ups (well over a hundred unique “kirby costumes” Super fun. As a huge shooter fan you won’t catch me complaining about being overwhelmed with the abundance of shmups on the VC. It does kind of surprise me though. I mean the TG-16 stuff shouldn’t surprise anyone, there were just tons shooters on that system and most were decent exclusives. But they seem to favor that system. How about the famicom version of Gradius 2 though?

I wish my soul would wander into a world where Nintendo released three or more games for the Virtual Console per week.

Wow, and my dad and I just saw Kirby 64 at our local “old-school” videogame place. I almost talked him into buying it…

Anyways, I can’t wait to get our Wii so that we can play this! :P

Yay, Kirby 64! I loved that game, though I could never completely beat it! I beat the final boss once… >.> Anyway, Kirby’s worth your money.

Spoiler (sort of): Once you beat the game, that’s not it. The crystal mentioned broke up into… well, shards. There’s 3 per level (besides bosses), and you have to get certain powers to get most of them.

I was waiting for this and Kirby Super Star.

The latter is seeming like it will never happen, mainly due to the DS remake of it. Mixed feelings about that one, Super Star is easily one of my favourite games ever, a remake might not do it justice for me.
