In a recent interview with Famutsu of Japan, Shigeru Miyamoto suggested that changes to the final version of the Wiimote are on the way. When asked about further development of the controller he said, “We’re still debating on the area of how many buttons to use.”
Nintendo said the Wiimote’s E3 showing was a near-final prototype, but now the issue of how many buttons to use? Has a final controller ever gone through this many iterations, or is it just the added hype surrounding the Wiimote?
