Force Unleashed Wii in action

I don’t care if early 360 and PS3 previews are stinkers. This, coupled with a respectable 7.5 from Nintendo Power, are enough to make me want to play the Wii version. Looking good.

Did you mean early reviews?

Even if the scores are mediocre, this is the type of game that actually playing it is required, imho.

I don’t know why that says “early” the game is out afterall. EGM, who gives the most respectable reviews imho, gave the game a C,C,B-. Pretty average scores because of a few cheap gameplay ideas that keeps the force on a long leash but leashed not unleashed nonetheless. I downloaded the ps3 demo and so I must say the gamecube version er wii version looks pretty crappy and no motion plus so forget it.

Ah, Lucasarts… I remember when you didn’t waste your time making crappy Star Wars game after crappy Star Wars game.. when you gave us titles like Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island… when you licensed out properties to competent developers. I know there are a ton of Star Wars fans out there who’ll seemingly buy any piece of drek that has the logo slapped on it, but really… give us some of the classic Lucasarts gameplay. I know you promised you would, but you keep releasing Star Wars crap. For those of us that think Star Wars sucks, like myself, it’s more than a little disheartening to see all your resources drained by development on titles for that franchise while you ignore better, more interesting ideas.

Graduisfan: “gamecube version er wii version”
Really? are we still doing that?
September 11th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Apparently we are still doing that. Sigh.
Looks fun to me. I’ll definitely be renting it, and maybe picking up a copy if the replay value is anything to speak of.

This actually looks more fun that I expected. I am not a huge fan of over exaggerated force powers though.

I’m very interested. It seems to play better than I thought it would, which is a very good thing. I’m looking forward to trying it. Thanks for posting that, Blake.
But it does look bad, even for a Wii game. Hopefully, something was lost in the translation from the source material to Web compression.
I’m not trying to start the same ol’ heated debate. Just calming stating my opinion. I don’t think pretty visuals and fun gameplay should be mutually exclusive traits, like most people would have you believe.

I don’t have a problem with how it looks personally, gameplay and graphically. I was happy with Gamecube visuals and still am, I still play a few Gamecube titles and say they look good.
Sure, I love that The Conduit is looking beautiful. But so did Prime 3, even back to Prime 1. They may not be HD but they portray the environment in a good way which to me is all that matters, anything above that is just an extra which to me is un needed.
Back to this game though, I will be getting this, it looks extremely fun. No motion+ is a let down but it was already known by all of us long before we saw this video right? One question though, does anyone know exactly how extensive the duel mode is? looking at the menus and the actual fighting it looks to be a bit of a cut down soul calibur which for a system exclusive extra is really impressive. Do each of the characters have different force powers or different combos or is it all just the same things with different character models?

Looks decent for the Wii.
I like the gestures, but I think I might have to still go with the 360 version. it has a LOT more characters on screen and the physics is better.
Still, I might rent this on Wii just for the extra content.
This has turned out better than I feared it would for the Wii, that is for sure.

The following is a quote from Mark of Krome;
“Well, the lead development has been done in Brisbane on the PS2, and that is the first point of call with all workings between Lucas Arts and Krome. So what we’re doing here is taking the PS2 development, putting it on the Wii, and making all the Wii specific stuff here. So, lead point is PS2 in Brisbane, to make that clear.”
Visually this game is not even a Cube game, it’s 100% PS2 just to clear that up.
Lucas Arts really hasn’t made a great game since the mid-nineties and the fact the Wii was put behind a PS2 in development was enough of a let down that I’m not going to buy this WiiS2 game at full price. Maybe if it drops to less than $20 and a trusted friend recommends it.
