While the game world awaits the E3 Media & Business Summit in Los Angeles next month, Nintendo isn’t waiting to announce new titles for its mushrooming libraries for the Wii console and Nintendo DS. Classic Nintendo characters like bad-boy Wario and pink powerhouse Kirby will star in their own platform games. A new Mystery Case Files game brings the best-selling Big Fish Games franchise to Nintendo DS for the first time. These games join the recently announced Mario Super Sluggers baseball game for the Wii console.

“Nintendo’s game libraries continue to grow at a rapid pace,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Wario stars in a great new platformer, Kirby enthusiasts get an updated version of a fan favorite, there’s a new mystery for Mystery Case Files aficionados and baseball gets a few new Mario-style twists.”

wariolandds.jpgWario Land: Shake It!, a classic side-scroller for the Wii console launching Sept. 29, stars Wario, the smelly, bad-mannered alter ego of Mario. With the Wii Remote controller turned sideways like an old-school controller, veterans and newcomers alike can run, jump and smash their way through hectic side-scrolling stages. Players shake the Wii Remote to help Wario take down his enemies, empty bags of treasure or cause earthquakes. Best of all, there are numerous stages each offering multiple missions to keep players coming back again and again to unlock everything, collect more coins or just improve their best times.

kirbysuperstarultra.jpgKirby Super Star Ultra for Nintendo DS, launching Sept. 29, re-imagines one of the most beloved Kirby games of all time. Kirby Super Star Ultra features new graphics and fully rendered animated cut scenes. With so many adventures waiting to be unlocked, there will never be a dull moment as Kirby runs, floats, copies enemies and uses Helpers to fight King Dedede and Meta Knight. New modes like Revenge of the King and Meta Knight Ultra await, along with classics like The Great Cave Offensive and Milky Way Wishes. On top of the main modes, there are also three new touch-screen-controlled mini-games that can be played with up to three friends via DS Download Play. Not only that, but players can go on Kirby adventures with a friend via local wireless as well.

mysterycasefiles.jpgMystery Case Files: MillionHeir, launching Sept. 8, uses the unique Nintendo DS interface to expand upon the seek-and-solve game play of the popular series from Big Fish Games. Players seek out cleverly hidden items in a multitude of painted scenes. Players progress through an interactive detective story investigating a cast of characters and uncovering new evidence to find the rightful heir to a million-dollar fortune. This new portable installment is available only for Nintendo DS. With interactive logic puzzles that use both the touch-screen interface and built-in microphone and include the first ever multiplayer mode for a Mystery Case Files game, Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir presents a new generation of seek-and-solve games for casual gamers and franchise fans.

mariosupersluggers.jpgMario Super Sluggers, launching Aug. 25 for the Wii console, stars the ever-lovable Mario and his crew of friends. It builds on the social-gaming fun and movements people learned in Wii Sports and turns them into a full-fledged baseball game that can be played by every member of the household. Players make a throwing motion with the Wii Remote controller to pitch the baseball and make a swinging motion to swing at the pitch. The game boasts more than 30 playable Nintendo characters and all the madness of a Mario sports game. Just like Mario Kart Wii, it bridges the gap between experienced players and those new to the Wii console, with fun challenges and beautiful graphics.

I haven’t been paying a lot of attention on the super slugger game, will it be wifi?

  2. Carlos says...

Im still have hope for a 2d DK game.

  3. Roxxor says...

Kirby will probably be the only one off that list I’ll buy.

    No online for Sluggers.

    Kirby and Wario for me.
Plus, I have to import Band Bros DX and Rythm Tengoku.

Milkyway Wishes is the most amazing game ever. I wish they’d make a bigger one, maybe spread the powers out, add more attributes to the different powers, make it more epic. Regardless, it’s like the best game I’ve ever played.

Why can’t they make a sequel for Kirby Canvas Curse instead of new standard entries? That game was great and if it would have been a little longer and had more then one real boss it would have been awesome but even without that it’s still one of my favorite DS games.

All this is is a way to keep people wondering what the “new, big” game will be at E3.
Nintendo was super hush-hush throughout this entire time, so they chose to reveal smaller titles, meanwhile the huge, awesome ones are still behind the scenes, ready to reveal for E3.
Nintendo wouldn’t dare spoil the 2D Donkey Kong Country game this early!

No love for a new Wario game? The first three games of the Wario Land series rocked; not so much the fourth… and this one sounds very similar to the third from the description, I think. Although I’m surprised they’d release a side scroller for the Wii, that seems more DS territory nowadays. But more power to them!

  9. peshue says...

It’s about time Wario got a new sidedscroller, those are wonderfull games. It’s a shame Kirby keeps getting the remake treatment though, I guess they figure most of the games are pretty much the same anyways, but it’s still dissapointing.

Looks like a hole lot of sh*t

    Bad form, and explain yourself.

I mean a 2D platformer, real original, a puzzle game for the DS, again its been done, Kirby themed mini games… really?, and a Mario Party-ized baseball game.
I’m sick of this lack of innovation that comes out of Mario Universe themed games, don’t get me wrong I love Mario Kart Wii, but aside from a few minor gameplay additions, ie Tricks, Bikes, its basically Mario Kart 64.
Nintendo has proven they can innovate, they have done so with the analog stick, the wii remote and balance board. Games like Metroid Prime and Super Mario 64 have brought so much to there genres.
Look at the screenshot at the top of the Article, hitting stuff and getting coins… I expect better from a company that has shown it can do better.

    @terapwn

On the subject of 2d platformers~ Really? You’re calling a genre unoriginal? What the heck is that about? There can be just as much variety in gameplay with a 2d platformer as there can be in a sports game, RPG, or First Person Shooter. Never mind how few 2D platformers there ARE nowadays, let alone on a console and featuring gorgeous hand drawn animation and replayability

On Kirby themed Mini-games~ Kirby Superstar (which this is a remake of) featured several mini games, and that didn’t stop it from being the (arguably) best sidescroller on the SNES, perhaps you overlooked that they’re also adding different game modes as well, not just mini games.

On Mario Kart Wii~ Tricks and Bikes are hardly “minor” gameplay additions. Besides, it’s a sequel to a popular racing franchise, did you expect Real Time Strategy Elements too? Not every game has to be BRAND NEW and INNOVATIVE, people like when formulaes are built upon and explored, so lighten up.

On Mario Party Baseball~ I really don’t get this complaint. Mario Party? Does everyone play a minigame after their turn? Do you roll a dice to move bases? I can’t think of a single way this is like Mario Party except that they both have Mario in the title. Every hands-on and preview has touted this game as a fantastic and involving step up from Wii Sports Baseball, it seems silly to hate on it because it uses familiar characters.

And lastly, judging Wario Land’s gameplay style on ONE screenshot is ludicrous. Especially if you would have read the press release to see what is actually IN the game. Exploration, Brawling, Puzzles, trying to beat your best times and scores. THAT’S what Wario Land contains, and THAT’S what makes it awesome.

Why can’t people just enjoy things?

  14. terapwn says...

I can enjoy things, but I enjoy new things better. And I definitely do not enjoy more of the same mediocrity.

Nintendo can do more, Nintendo should do more and Nintendo has done more.

Nintendo is not invulnerable due to the Wii’s current success, don’t get me wrong I love my Wii and it is not collecting dust. But, I don’t love because I can play “classic” and “old school” styled games, this acceptance of redoing things for the sake of nostalgia is stupid. As far as I’m concerned “classic” and “old school” mean the same as “overdone” and “I’m out of ideas”

At the top of the site it says “INTELLIGENT passion for all things Nintendo.”

At the bottom of the site it says “Infendo is a gaming blog for gamers passionate about all things Nintendo. The site covers news, tips, cheats, rumors, speculation, reviews, culture, CRITICISMS, Wii, DS, GameCube, Game Boy Advance, retro platforms and a whole bunch more several times daily.”
Lately I haven’t seen enough of that.

  15. Joltman says...

    @terapwn:
Ok, it seems like it’s time for me to cram something into your head:
“Nintendo can do more” - and coming out with the Balance Board wasn’t doing more? They’re doing more to try to cover all the possible bases of gaming!
“Nintendo should do more” - E3, just wait for E3 (I can’t say more).

“Mediocrity” - Now this is what gets me fired up - how dare you think that every game lately Nintendo has released is mediocre!
Do you even understand the meaning of that word?
Every game released, be it a sequel or not, has improved greatly, and even made them the best-ones-to-play out there!

“Nostalgia” - Oh geez, are you ever wrong. VC was created to re-release classic games, yes, but if you are insinuating that Super Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart Wii were created just to bring back nostalgic memories, then you are wrong.
They created the games to be creative, to take the gameplay to a level which hadn’t been reached before!
Was Mario Galaxy using gravity as a key factor in gameplay a way to say “I’m out of ideas”? NO!
Was Mario Kart Wii implementing tricks and motorbikes a way to say “I’m out of ideas”? NO!

Nintendo is extremely passionate about all of the games they make.
Why do you think they pushed the release date of Super Smash Bros. Brawl back THREE TIMES???
Because they believe in making excellent games, ones that will please all of their fans, and want to make gaming experiences unlike any other!

How much on this site have you really read through?
We’ve got daily news! We’ve got rumors! You didn’t hear about the 2-D Donkey Kong Country release for Wii? Check it out!
Dig deep, and read through the entire site, archives and all. You’d be surpised at how much knowledgeable loot is stuffed in here.

You want a passionate gamer for Nintendo? That’s me, and it’s not just because I live half-a-block away from NOA!
Loyalist from the beginning, I fight to maintain the awesome image of Nintendo that it is.

  16. peshue says...

It sounds like what your after terapwn is a different console. Nintendo is always going to have progressive iterations of their biggest games, and the yaren’t going to make massive changes because these games are their bread and butter so changing everything would be stupid. Nintendo deceided to go off in a different direction since the ds a,d it’s totally understandable that not everyone is happy to go along with it, personally I enjoy my wii, but I don’t play it as much as other consoles i’ve owned. However with the current consoles it’s the best choice for me based on price and the games I’m interested in.

  17. terapwn says...

Ok, I see bringing up the obvious weaknesses in Nintendo was a bad idea when in the company of fanboys, but I believe I have something to cram into you head I LOVE NINTENDO.
I was at a midnight release of Smash Bros, which was NOT developed by Nintendo it was developed by a completely different and independent company, I’m sick of Nintendo getting the credit for it, HAL Laboratory made that game. Unlike Nintendo made games Shigeru Miyamoto was not at all involved.
The reason I am unhappy with these games is because I love Nintendo, but I do not believe that anything Nintendo produces is good enough.

  18. Joltman says...

    @terapwn:
I believe you do not love Nintendo.
    You are a hypocrite.
If you say “[you] do not believe anything Nintendo produces is good enough” then you obviously do not accept Nintendo as a fan.
HAL Laboratories (spell it correctly, please) is a Second-Party company.
“What does that mean?” - this means that Nintendo owns this company and allows the company to produce this game.
    HAL is NOT INDEPENDENT.
All in all, NINTENDO DID CREATE SMASH BROS.

“Shigeru Miyamoto was not at all involved” - WHO SAID THAT S. MIYAMOTO HAD TO HELP CREATE A GAME IN ORDER TO BE A NINTENDO-CREATED GAME?

The fact is that you LIKE Nintendo, but are not pleased with anything it turns out nowadays. You do not fall into the category of Nintendo fanboy.

  19. terapwn says...

    i like penis

  20. Ryushi says...

HOW DARE YOU SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT NINTENDO, DESPITE THEIR LACK OF INNOVATION YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO EXPRESS YOUR THOUGHTS TERAPWN. YOU ARE TEH GEHY.

  21. Edward Benton says...

Your opinion holds no water here terapwn, I SUSPECT YOU ARE A SONY SPY SENT TO SPY ON US!! Nintendo are obviously the be all and end all of the gaming world, and I demand that if they churn out a cookie cutter clone game, that you LIKE IT AND MEAN IT. Because THIS IS NINTENDO!!!
