Tuesday, July 17th, 2007 at 8:51am by Jack

Nintendo release dates GETAs kind of a post-E3 wrap-up, here are the confirmed release dates for Nintendo’s first party IP, July-December (courtesy of Wired):

07/30/07 Mario Strikers Charged Wii
07/30/07 Picross DS DS
08/20/07 Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day DS
08/27/07 Metroid Prime 3 Corruption Wii
09/10/07 DK Jungle Climber DS
09/24/07 Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol DS
10/01/07 The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass DS
10/08/07 Donkey Kong Barrel Blast Wii
10/15/07 Flash Focus: Vision Training in Minutes a Day DS
10/29/07 Battalion Wars 2 Wii
10/29/07 Endless Ocean Wii
11/05/07 Fire Emblem Wii
11/12/07 Super Mario Galaxy Wii
11/19/07 Mario Party DS DS
11/26/07 Nintendo Magic (name not final) DS
12/03/07 Super Smash Bros. Brawl Wii
12/03/07 Professor Layton and the Curious Village DS

Was Battalion Wars 2 even mentioned at E3?! I smell a GameCube port with shoe-horned, semi-broken online play, which would be a shame. OK, so that’s not entirely accurate. But still, why no love at E3 — the game is scheduled for October!

And what’s with Professor Layton? Everyone and their Nintendog is talking about it. Am I missing something?

Professor Layton looks like fun .. puzzles, mysteries, and it smells like a movie made by that guy who did My Neighbor Totoro.

Removed from the release schedule: DS Air

That October release for Battalion Wars 2 is indeed suspicious… It is too soon to have a real-time free-range online game. Notice also that Battalion Wars 2, if online, would be the first Wii release with online gameplay that is not constricted to specific tracks (Mario Kart) or a small field(Mario Strikers Charged) with many objects to interact with.

There is a reason why the first online games in any new online gaming service are either board games, racing games, or cartoony sports games: the jump from those type of games to free-range battle games has a HUGE impact on bandwidth and processing power.

I hope they don’t blotch Battalion Wars 2! It might be also that they won’t include online play in it after all… that would be a real shame!

Well, well.. November 12th, eh? Now I can let the boss know that I won’t be in to work that week.. :-D

(Hopefully they won’t bump the release date like they did with Metroid..)

They better put online play in BWii or else there’s no way to play multiplayer really. These are epic battles and split screen will just not fly with the kind of game it is. I’m sure a basic online mode would be in place for co-op as well as 1-1 skirmishes at least. Plus we have to understand BWii is a first party IP but being developed by a Third Party, Kuju.

i dont see how not having a presense at e3 makes BW2 a gamecube port. the game was shown last year at the german gaming event, and was already using wii controls with wii level graphics. you can compare it to GC games graphics to see the difference. i have played the game alot, i am very excited for this game, but online has been in developers hands for months now, and the game still has a few months til release, and the Wii is plenty powerful enough to handle the bandwidth of the game. if you missed the nintendo presentation, a WW2 game was announced that will have 32player online, this year. sports games going online this year. online is here and will be well established by the end of october.

as far as the release date goes, oct 29 is not suspicious. when a release date is given, its the ship date. 29th is a monday, for release on tuesday, the most common release date for games/movies. it was originally given a vague september release on a nintendo press release a few months ago, but this date is the first confirmed solid date, therefore it does look likely that it will happen.

Battalion Wars 2 was playable at LAST year’s E3. And it wasn’t just a port. They’ve added more units, the ability to have ships at your command, easier aiming and switching of characters and it will have a few multiplayer modes. Hey, they had an article on it in the last Nintendo Power.

    Wow. There goes $250…

  12. DmNt says...

Looks Project Hammer, Sadness, and Disaster really did get canceled for Wiifit, Brain Age 2, and Mario party DS. Thanks Nintendo!

  13. waltermh says...

DmNt, stop falling behind and wasting our time with your uneducated posts.

disaster is already confirmed to still be in production, not on hold, and it was never said to come out this year, nor was sadness.

its good those things are being kept for next year since this year, the second half especially (as is usual with gaming) is packed with nintendo goodness.

they need something for next year, they basically have kirby, mario kart, disaster, and sadness confirmed. i am sure more are coming also, but the more the better.
