KORG, makers of electronic instruments for over 40 years, have created a DS-based instrument. The DS-10 software for Nintendo DS will be released this summer in Japan. No word yet on when or if the rest of the world will get localized versions, but you can bet this will be a hot import item. Head on over to this site for more details and an MP3 sample of a song created with the KORG DS-10.
[Thanks for the tip, James]

This is great!! as a hobby musician, this are great news, since synths are really expensive and bringing your laptop to a gig could end in disaster… Go Nintendo!

That is pretty awesome. Not really into music synthesizing so I probably won’t get it, but who knows, I didn’t think I’d get electroplankton. (I did by the way)

Yes! Awesomeness on the go! Imagine linking this with PSP Rhythm and a cool effects processor like the Korg Mini-KP.
Very cool!

Imagine taking great program like FL Studio, taking everything that made it great out, then porting it to the DS. There. You now have Korg DS-10.
Seriously, if you’re really interested in music, just download FL Studio 7. You can get it from their site, http://www.flstudio.com/ with the demo, you get all the features but you can’t save. Even if you can’t save, it’s still thousands of times better than Korg.

According to Gamasutra:
In Japan, AQ Interactive’s recently announced synthesizer software title KORG DS-10 Synthesizer meets with initial presales that outperform the sales of all available software in the region.

@DmNt…
I use FL Studio but wouldn’t dream of making a comparison or suggestion of the DS synth’s inferiority. This is just more fun geekery and something I would enjoy tinkering around with. I’m not saying I would produce my next song on it, but there are many musicians who compose with even less. You are aware of the whole “8 bit” Gameboy music scene? http://www.8bitpeoples.com People compose entire albums using nothing but Gameboys and sometimes custom software. This Korg DS-10 will surely sound much better and be many times more powerful.
