Disaster: Most overlooked (and mysterious) Wii game

Back at E3, Disaster: Day of Crisis was one title that really stuck out for me personally. Wikipedia reports that the game is being developed for Wii as part of Nintendo’s initiative to create new franchises. Disaster is being developed by Monolith Soft which staffs several former Square employees and will be published by Nintendo at an unspecified time.

From the game synopsis: “Survive nature’s most devastating catastrophes in Disaster: Day of Crisis, a panic-inducing survival game for Wii. When a wave of natural disasters pummels the United States, a rogue special forces unit takes advantage of the chaos and seizes a nuclear weapon. Players race a car down a mountain to escape a roaring pyroclastic flow, dodge toppling buildings during a devastating earthquake and swim for their lives in a raging flood. No matter what happens, fight to survive.”

I know the survival story has been played out, especially in late 90’s movies, but I’m hopeful this title can deliver on motion-sensing controls. For whatever reason, Nintendo has taken down the official game site. Regardless, is anyone else excited about this one?
