NerdsBeing the web nerd that I am, I gotta ask: who has the better website?

If this completely bores you, please skip to next post.

Xbox wins! Not that I like it, I prefer the nintendo one but the xbox site is less clutttered than the nintendo site yet offers more than the playstation site

Im gonna go with the xbox website

I think that functionally they are very similar. In terms of design, XBox gets my vote.

Nintendo: Decent design. Not so sleek, kinda clutterred.

Xbox: Very sleek. Cramped, but not cluttered. Filled with easily accessed information

Playstation: Barren. Devoid of information. Kinda ugly.

Yes, I’m going with Xbox as well.

for me, nintendos site offers a lot more info that interests me, not just advertising but facts like cheat codes i assume they still have, corporate info, product info going back to NES, large community areas, and so much more that i easily find accessible.

i think they manage the clutter well, and ps and xbox site are both uncluttered but offer so little info that i can see with zune? adertising amongst other junk, like what? good design? you there to get info or watch lots of ads. as far as practical use goes nintendo site, design means squat if its worthless.

and if you want to vote based on who has the simpler design, its playstation site, only the news and game info, and very clean, not lots of movement or sections. simple menu at top

    Xbox wins easily.

Firstly, there’s the Live integration. You can view your profile, send and recieve messages, add and manage friends, and buy Points or Live subscriptions, among other things.

Secondly, the support pages (certainly on the US site) are fantastic, and go into detail on every feature and accessory.

Thirdly, the Marketplace catalogue is great, allowing me to see what’s up and how much it costs without having to browse from the 360.

There’s a great deal of community content and events too. The guy above mentioned the Zune advertising. That’s for the Halo 3 Zune, so it’s very relevant.

    Yeah, good stuff all around.

The Nintendo site is good, but they could do so much more, especially in Europe. We should be able to buy Points at least.

I can’t say much about PlayStation. I find it to be so-so.

XBOX for sure. Nintendos doesn’t feel like it has a purpose. Just stuff all over the place. Difficult to navigate. XBOX conforms to solid web standards and is as it is expected to be. Sonys is good but you should never make a black website. Big no-no.

    1= Xbox 2 = Playstation 3 = Nintendo

Nintendo’s site is just over populated. Little boxes and crap everywhere. It’s annoying to look at and hurts my brain! Time to web up Nintendo.

Man, that’s a difficult one. They’re all great. I would think maybe Nintendo comes in last, but I can’t say which one is best. Nintendo is the one I check the most, so I can’t be all that bad.

Well, just at a first glance, I’d say it’s a close tie between the XBOX website and the Nintendo website. Reason being, XBOX website is more sleek but offers less info than the Nintendo one. The Nintendo one is jam packed with info (and has that little vote at the bottom-right hand corner of the screen.) I also like it’s main way for displaying info - the thing that clicks down with “Features, Game Sites, Web Games and Theater.”

Awkward, I would have to say that XBox is the one that I don’t like out of the 3. PS and Nintendo are tied for me though for the better one

Im actualloy a little biased towards microsoft - their website looks real nice- but the nintendo website doesnt look half bad

Since Nintendo is a company and not a product line, I compared us.wii.com to xbox.com and us.playstation.com.

By number of Fugly Flash objects on the main page: #1 us.playstation.com (0), #2 us.wii.com (2), #3 xbox.com (3, plus a flash banner on EVERY page, ugh)
    By number of clicks to get to the forum for the best game: #1 us.playstation.com (2), #2 us.wii.com (2-3+), #3 xbox.com (3-4)
    By number of clicks to find a customer service phone number: #1 us.playstation.com (1), #2 us.wii.com (2), #2 xbox.com (2)
By number of non-bundled/free titles or products advertised on the main page: #1 us.wii.com (2), #2 us.playstation.com (>5), #3 xbox.com (>13, including the huge Zune one)
By hardest SAT word used on the main page: #1 us.wii.com (”developer”), #2 xbox.com (”paranormal”), #3 us.playstation.com (”complimentary”)

I would say that us.wii.com is roughly tied with us.playstation.com, while xbox.com fills me with rage. Maybe if I cared about gamertag stuff I would like it better, but I doubt it. I still plan on getting a 360 before a PS3 though. I think the actual nintendo.com site would fall somewhere between the PS and Xbox sites.

I use a flash blocker, so basically I couldn’t use Nintendo or the Xbox websites.

Sony at least offered an alternative… so does that make them the winner?

  15. Liraco says...

Design-wise the PS3 seems more my cup-of-tea. Honestly though I dislike all 3, if only because they seem to cluttered and there’s never anything interesting or worth viewing in them.

You can find much better things in any other site generally, not to mention everything written in their sites read like press releases.

  16. lyskan says...

I like nintendo, seems to have more news on the front page

I’m a Nintendo User, BTW the best site is Microsoft’s
    no doubt
