Kutaragi stepping down as PlayStation chief this June

The father of the PlayStation Ken Kutaragi will “retire” on June 15 in light of a dismal PS3 launch. Kaz Hirai will take the helm effective this summer. The AP reports:
“Although Kutaragi will remain an adviser, some U.S. gaming experts said the retirement may have been a face-saving firing and an effort by Stringer to recover from the botched PS3 launch.”
Video games owe a lot to Kutaragi. Makes you wonder what the mood is like at Sony HQ at the moment…

I think you mean “In view of”, rather than “In lieu of”. That would mean, “To replace a dismal PS3 Launch”, and I don’t see how him resigning will replace the PS3 Launch.

Quick! go get Reggie’s opinion on this!!! guess the name taking means making you lose your job! Anyways he’s being replace by Kaz Harai, kind of the same crazy overconfident genre.

It’s official, Kens ass has been kicked and his name taken. Now, who’s next?

How are they feeling? Probably pretty happy. They can finally play their Wii out in the open, instead of hiding it.

Well I always had harsh words for ‘Krazy Kenny K’.
But we all have to acknowledge that without this brilliant - if sometimes confusing - engineer Sony might not be in the video games business at all.
RESPECT +1 for Kutaragi.

On the other hand I think Hirai is an intelligent and thoughtful man (funny too… Riiiiidge… sorry, couldn’t resist ^^) and it was time that he gets promoted.
