Chrono Trigger gets “tweaked” description

Friday, December 5th, 2008 at 8:30pm by Will

I did not happen to notice this until I came across one of Gamecyte’s article earlier today. Apparently Game Stop thinks that they are pretty funny and decided to add a little Napoleon Dynamite to Chrono Trigger. While the description is kind of funny, I find it disturbing that they are allowed to post a different description that has hardly anything to actually do with the game. Not only does this makes me wonder if they have done this before, but with how many other games. I guess the bigger question is, should a retailer be able to change the description of a game on their site without letting you know?

Yeah, that’s a little odd. Not only is it a clumsy attempt at humor, but it’s very probably confusing for the uninformed potential consumer browsing their website.

They should probably mention somewhere that it’s a joke. Otherwise, those who haven’t played the game may actually believe it.

INTERNETS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS. Relax, guys. I don’t think it has anything to do with Gamestop as a company. It’s probably just an employee goofing off. But if it isn’t I bet they think enough people will know the reference and get the joke. Besides, if you go to the game’s product page the description there is totally joke-free.

They probably assume that almost everyone already knows what Chrono Trigger is. I hear it’s popular or something.

    …. it’s pretty funny.

maybe it’s meta-humour, like someone messed with the past so much we now lived in a changed universe where Chrono Trigger has the plot of NapDy.

I wonder how ticked off the game developers and publishers are when this happens…I have no idea what this game really is about, to be honest with you, and I definitely don’t want to buy it now.

@Scott K: Dude, the game has been out for thirteen years.
    A. How have you not heard about it?
    B. Why would Squeenix care?
These are rhetorical questions, mind you.
