Capcom takes We Love Golf, Miis online

Capcom stroked a sweet little birdie when it announced last Wednesday the addition of an online multiplayer component to its upcoming exclusive Wii golfer, We Love Golf.
According to the announcement, We Love Golf will allow players to test their golf slice against random competitors in World Play Mode or match up with friends in Friend Play games, taking full advantage of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
Capcom also revealed that We Love Golf will be the first sports game on Wii to enable the use of Mii characters in online gameplay. As announced prior, players can also dress their We Love Golf character with classic outfits as worn by characters in Capcom franchises such as Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Dark Stalkers and more.
Developed by Camelot Software, the North American version of We Love Golf has received several tweaks since the lackluster reception of its Japanese counterpart last December. In addition to the online mode, which was not available in the Japanese version, Capcom recently allowed fans to vote on two additional mascot costume inclusions in an effort to increase the title’s Western appeal.
We Love Golf has an unspecified 2008 North American release date.

Cool, first comment. This is actually a game I’m looking forward to, even though I have Wii Sports. Gotta give Capcom some credit for spelling it “We” instead of “Wii” =D
(On a side note, Camelot is actually still active in the gaming industry? >.>)

I’ve liked every shot of this game that I’ve seen except for the one used above. Zak looks so freaky in that picture. Ah, my eyes burn.

It’s not actually Zack. To clear up some misunderstandings…
As I understand, and pointed out in the article, these are only costumes of famous Capcom characters, which are worn by the characters in We Love Golf. It’s not actually Zack and Resident Evil characters golfing. It’s just golfers in their outfits.

I don’t know why I keep forgetting that, but that picture is still very creepy to me.

I really like the golf on Wii Sports – as long as this game keeps its fun factor, I’m interested. I especially like dressing up your Mii has Capcom characters. If I can dress up as Mega Man or M Bison, I’ll be in golf heaven.

gametaku: No worries, lots of people seem to be confused over it. And to be honest, I’m very happy the costumes are being used and not the actual characters.
Mario and friends, for some reason, are versatile enough to warrant sports spin-offs; they make sense in a wild, crazy golf game. But to see Capcom characters from beloved franchises like Resident Evil and Street Fighter golfing…I really doubt that would work.
So the costumes are a really cool idea.
