blackwiiU.S. gamers could have their hands on a black Wii console to match their black Wii controllers as early as May, according to several retail folks who know such things.

As for an exact date, retail moles at Target, GameStop and Future Shop all hinted the console variant could be on their store shelves by May 9, with a Canadian release on May 23. The console would be sold as part of a Wii Sports Resort bundle, complete with MotionPlus add-on, for $199.

Japan, as you’ll remember, has had black Wii consoles since the summer of 2009.

Well that be nice, since i’m thinking about getting a 2nd wii, i’m tired of bring it over from 1 house to the other… so yeah if this is true i may get this and not a used wii.

That would be a great way for them to sell more consoles. People would be getting Wii Sports Resorts and a Wii Motion Plus unit FREE, plus a very good looking black console. This should help Nintendo sell more units of New Super Mario Bros Wii and maybe Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 as well as the rest of their catalog.

If the release date is accurate May could be another month were Nintendo sells more than 1 million consoles.
