Infendo readers invent “new IP” — so who won?

Abuse by BungieLast week I asked you to put your money where your mouth is and design some truly original IP for the Wii. And you did. A lot. Thirty-two comments later (sure, David and I padded it with some pithy commentary of our own, so what!?), we have a slew of really cool ideas that Nintendo is more than welcome to take under its wing, develop, publish, and then pay us for.

But which is the best? Which is the most innovative? Take a look at some of the ideas if you haven’t already, and then weigh in here. Is the best David’s amnesia MMORPG thriller? Is it plusdrew’s enormously ambitious ARG? How about a game based entirely on Bowser?

My vote goes to samfish, who came up with an idea for a game that mimics Abuse, one of Bungie’s most original and entertaining games to date (and it’s damn hard to boot). There’s just something about using the Wiimote to have 360 degree, pin point firing control in a platformer…

My personal award goes to the Bowser platforming level designer. It’d probably be better as a DS game, than a Wii game. It would be kind of like Lemmings. You could bring in all four characters from SMB2, with their various abilities, and your job is to build a platformer that tricks various levels of difficulty into dying. Of course, you’d have only so many resources with which to build.

    I’d love to play that.

Isn’t that what Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2 was like?? Oh, wait, that one was on DS…

    Great game, though!

So… Would that be like Gunstar Heroes except aiming and running are indepedant controls? With aiming being handled by… Aiming? I figured that would rock. Treasure needs to make millions of games like these and release them on the VC. Smash TV with aim control would rock, too. I think that’s what Alien Syndrome is going for.

    YAY! I feel special now!

Games like Abuse and Smash TV are probably better examples than Mega Man, too.
…I just always say Mega Man because I really want Mega Man 9!
*sigh*…I really need to get around to buying out Capcom one of these days..

But side scrolling shooters arent really that original. I mean samfish himself mentioned Mega Man 9. Thats NINE in the series alone. I know there isnt a side scrolling shooter on Wii yet, but Alien Syndrome will be out soon (a game I am excited about and already have on pre order)

I havent changed my mind from yesterday (or whenever it was I commented). ChrisB’s InnerSpace-esque game could work really well. I know that Wii has the Trauma Centre is out on Wii, but controlling a little ship fixing things could work even better.
And as far as I am aware its something that really hasnt been done(although this could be for a good reason)

Abuse was only ported to the Mac by Bungie, Crack dot com developed it for the PC.

Doesn’t Metal Slug Anthology count as 6 (or is it 7?) side-scrolling shooters on the Wii?
