EB Games has Wii page live

Ever since I waited 30 minutes in a two-person line at an EB Games while the “manager” talked with her friend on the phone about her complete lack of a social life (surprise), I have never set foot in one of these stores. However, I still check the online store for updates on release dates and to laugh at the $1200 packages they put together for launching systems.
Today, EB Games officially has the Wii page up and running, complete with exorbitant pricing ($60 for Wii Sports?!). They also have links to preorder information so you can preorder and then show up on launch day so they can tell you they don’t have anymore systems. Games have shipping dates ranging between 11/1/06 and 12/1/06, and are likely just placeholders.
Oh, and I was waiting in line for Final Fantasy 4 Advance, which I later bought at Target
UPDATE: The link has apparently been blocked by a gremlin of some kind, so our link now goes to an image posted by Go Nintendo. -Jack

You do realize that EB is now owned by Gamestop, right? They were bought (in a merger type deal) some time last year.
Oh, and the link doesn’t work for me.

The EB near Union Square in NYC will never get my patronage again.
same deal - rude, stupid, kids yattering about BS on phones rather than helping cusomers.
So now I go to my small independent store in Brooklyn.
I used to love going to game stores as a kid but now, bring on the download service, let these fools go work for Mickey D.

That gamestop link still works, as of this writing. It’s hardly “official” though. The page is just being tested. Some things are obviously placeholders.

Er that’s weird. Apparently the blog software doesnt like ampersands or something? Replace that “§” symbol in the above link with an ampersand.

“Games have shipping dates ranging between 11/1/06 and 12/1/06.”
If you go to the top left of the EBGames homepage (Product Search), select Wii from the drop down and leave the search field blank, you’ll find many more titles, some with release dates as early as 10/1/06. There’s also an entry for a power glove type accessory.

The service quality of EB has gone down ever since GameStop acquired it… and GameStop’s service is waning, too.
I think the console transition has been hitting them hard. There are just too many options they have to keep up with because gamers are still using the old consoles, they are in-between generations, or they don’t want to know anything about the previous generation games.
