3DS seems to be hitting its stride: Game Gear titles, new demos, and NES titles hit the eShop

We have know since the latest Nintendo Direct conference that Game Gear games were coming to the 3DS, but until today, we didn’t know exactly when. It appears that not only will the eShop receive Game Gear titles starting next week, NES titles will be available for purchase this Thursday starting with the NES version of Punch-Out!! (the Mr. Dream version).

The Game Gear will receive three titles in the eShop next week, including Shinobi, Sonic Triple Trouble, and Dragon Crystal. In addition, there will be a few original title coming ‘soon’ to the eShop such as Ketzal’s Corridors, Fun! Fun! Minigolf Touch!, and Colors! 3D, which is an updated version of the free DS homebrew game Colors!

Maybe most exciting is that a demo for the highly anticipated title Rhythm Thief will be hitting the eShop, joining the ranks of Resident Evil: Revelations and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D in providing great demos before the official release of the game.

Looks like the 3DS is starting to pick up steam, and doesn’t look to be stopping anytime soon!

    “NES titles will be available for purchase this week[…]”
    SMB and Metroid got non-Ambassador releases two weeks ago and last week, respectively. But that aside, I’m glad we’re FINALLY getting Punch Out!!!, my friend in Australia’s had it for at least a few weeks now.

    Eugene Allen,

    Thank you for posting about Nintendo news. Other posters have been muddying up Infendo with nostalgic blog posts and pointless personal anecdotes. I’m looking at you, Essel Pratt.

    The original homebrew version of Colors was awesome. Even better than Brushes on iPad, in my opinion.

    I hear the new version allows you to draw in 3D. Can’t wait to try it out.

    The maker of Mutant Mudds tweeted a teaser site: bombmonkey.com earlier today. New game coming to eShop by them.

    3DS really is shaping up terrifically, and the eShop is full of great titles right now! Can’t wait to try Colors 3D.

    What I’m really looking forward to is the release of Sonic The Hedgehog: Triple Trouble , Shinobi and Dragon Crystal. Dragon Crystal and Shinobi were 2 games I never owned back in the day, but I did own Sonic Triple Trouble. Can’t wait to play that game again plus the 2 I missed out on back in the day. To this day, I still say that was the portable version of Sonic 3 on GAME GEAR. As for, Punch-Out!! , FINALLY! I can have a good game besides all my 3DS Ambassador Games to play if I’m out. The new Bomb Monkey game by Renegade Kid seems very interesting to me and I would love to know when they plan to release the game on the eShop. Reason why is cause Mutant Mudds DEEPLY reminded me of why I became a gamer in the first place ever since I first picked up an NES controller back in my youth playing Super Mario Bros.
    All in all, Mutant Mudds was a great game to me and would love to see more. Now if only a sequel to Shantae: Risky’s Revenge could come from WayForward anytime soon, I can completely die in love again. Just loved exploring that game with that sassy genie. 😉

    Is there any way to filter out Essel Pratt and Michael Fletcher from my Infendo experience?

  8. Eugene Allen says:

    @Stan

    I do what I can, but Essel and Micheal aren’t so bad. Bring a bit of variety to the site!
